XL is big but not as big as I thought!

We bought two of the blankets (one for our family room couch and the other for the end of our bed) to accommodate a 65lb Golden Doodle. We went with the XL size in the color gray. We were a little surprised when they arrived that they weren't a little larger (in fairness, I never checked dimensions). Other than our misperception on size, they are incredibly soft and appear to be very comfortable as Ruger, our Golden Doodle, sleeps on one every night, and when lounging in the living room, uses the blanket on the couch.

Our eldery kitty loved it, our other senior cat likes it too

Got this as a special prezzie for our elderly cat, so he could spend his golden days comfortably in his favorite spot -- which gets chilly in the winter when humans aren't right there watching TV. He loved it and slept on it every day until he had to head out to the Rainbow Bridge. His surviving younger brother (now a spry early-senior himself) loves it too. It's been washed a few times and is holding up fine -- as the others have said, though, shake off all the pet hair first, or it'll end up all over the inside of your washer and back on all your clothes and stuff later.

They don’t care of the texture

I got this because I is very cold where I am and it says self warming for my Doxie who seems to always be cold. It’s ok but she doesn’t seem to like crinkle sound it makes due to the self warming thingy (yes that’s the technical term) inside the blanket. She will use it but it’s not her favorite.

Good for indoor and outdoor cats

I had an indoor cat this winter and I had a greenhouse cat. I kept them both warm and comfortable with the help of the pads. This spring I pulled them out for washing. They were full of cat hair. I shook them off and took them to the laundromat where they have extractor type washing machines. All of the hair came out. I did not dry them, but laid them on top of my dryer while I was drying clothes. Even though they feel dry it took a few days for them to get totally dry. Saving them for next winter.

Not as big as it looks

I bought the XL for my 75lb dog. It doesn't cover the back of the couch or the seat cushion like the product image does. My couch isn't super deep or overstuffed and tall. She loves the blanket though.

Cats love it

I read many of the reviews and I believe some people didn't understand "self warming". This is not like a heating pad - the bed doesn't warm up. The cats body heat is reflected back up into their body to keep them warm. I have a 19 ye old cat who has always been tiny with no body fat so I got her a small one. She loves it since she can lay in the window again. Having that extra body heat reflected back into her helps her get up and walk easier with her arthritis. When she wasn't on it, my younger 9 yr old cat stole it and wouldn't lay in his favorite bed anymore. So I got him the large size and put it on his bed. He is using his bed again. My 3rd cat is new to the family and stretches out when he lays. No cat bed holds him. So I got him one of these to coax him to sleep where I have room for a bed. We'll see if it works or not. I also bought 2 more small ones to fit on the 2 window seats. It is cold there but all of the cats love laying there watching the neighborhood and soaking up the sunlight. These self warming blankets are great there. The side laying on the blankets is warm and the sun keeps the upper side warm. As for the crinkling noise, most cats don't mind it. Kind of like the toys that make the same noise. Every self warming bed is going to make this noise.

Warm and cat/dog comfortable

Bought this (2) for placement in areas our cat liked to sleep. She took too them very quickly and can be found sleeping soundly when she is not getting into everything. We then bought one for our small dog who is elderly and gets cold. She too loved it. So, although I am not Dr. Doolittle, I can easily see they both love these for warmth and comfort. Cost is very reasonable.

So far, washes beautifully

I use this underneath my dogs bed to make sure the cold hardwood floors aren't making his bed cold. Sometimes when it's cold the dog will pull his bed out of the way and lay directly on the mat. The mat is luxuriously soft and washes beautifully without retaining odors. I use Downy Rinse & Refresh and wash the dogs bedding using the deep wash cycle, deep fill, and an extra rinse to ensure everything gets really clean. The only tricky part is drying the mat, the dryer wants to shut off before the mat is completely dry, so after a few cycles of drying as much as I can with the dryer, I leave the mat out to air dry for several hours to be sure it's completely dry. It does dry very quickly though and doesn't hold lots of water during the washing/drying process.

Waterproof! It works.

I love this blanket as much as the cats and dogs do. They snuggle in and shedding is contained amongst the fibers. It's also waterproof. When my cat had an abscess that burst, nothing was on the bed, just on the blanket. It washed up perfectly. Only complaint is that it is slightly smaller than I expected. Totally worth the price.

Looks great, until you wash it

We bought 3 of these blankets when we added a new puppy to our family. They are very soft and look really nice… until you wash it. I followed the washing directions to a “T” but it still came out looking ratty. We still use it, just doesn’t look very nice anymore.

Blanket is awesome. Soft and a good size. Washes up really great in the washing machine and stains come out great too.
