The best chew toy I never wanted

This thing is a boss among toys. I never intended for it to be an aggressive chewer magnet, yet here we are months later and it’s never not between some doggy’s paws. Is it the color, plastic, shape? Who knows! Puppies, labraheeler, Great Danes… even a poodle takes her time when she can get it. Value for money? I’ve saved loads on “durable power chewer” toys. This is all we need.

For my dog's trick training :)

I purchased this item (Medium) for my 40+LB dog's trick training. She wants to bite on either end instead of grabbing it in the middle, but gradually learning how to grab and hold it! The item is heavier than I thought (but not too heavy for my dog to lift of course), and the plastic material gets easily scratched by dog teeth. I also think the color could be something other than red (which is hard for dogs to see), though her training places have dark flooring color so I guess it may not matter as much as I concern. Overall, it's a nice item for the price :)

Better than expected

My tervuren is starting obedience training, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I though he'd just chew up. My trainer was very happy with the purchase. The size is perfect, they are more durable than expected. Very pleased with the purchase, the price and speed of delivery. updating to let you know how super happy I am with this purchase.

Fantastic training tool

I bought this dumbell to train my dog to pick up and carry things. He loves it and will retrieve it for the sake of a treat. The plastic is durable, it's light weight and comfortable for my dog to carry around. I bought this in the small and medium size.

Small is too small and medium is way too big!

Unfortunately my dog needs a size between small and medium but there isn't one which is why I gave it three stars. None of these dumbbells will work for a medium sized dog. I tried my friend's small that her 26 pound sheltie uses and it was a bit too small for my 37 pound border collie. I purchased the medium and it's huge and heavy. I double-checked the package to be sure I was sent the right size. My golden retriever was able to hold it comfortably in her mouth but I didn't want it to be used as a chew toy so I gave it to a person that has a larger obedience dog. This is a good product for a larger dog but it is still very heavy. I will be purchasing a different brand that comes in multiple sizes. I really wanted this dumbbell to work.

Amazing for retrieval and obedience training, just don’t let your dog have it all the time as it is not meant to be a toy, hence the bad reviews regarding durability

Perfect

My jack russel loves this. He cannot retrieve in a formal way yet, but he will take the dumbbell from my hand or retrieve it playfully when thrown. After that he keeps it instead of presenting it, but he is enjoying it and it's early days. He does chew on it a little, but there is no damage.

Dangerous.

Initially it was a great training implement, but allowing my puppy to play with it for a short period after training was dangerous. She was able to chew the edges then swallowed them, which is clearly hazardous. To think that it's a sturdy item would be entirely wrong, she easily chewed through the angular sections as though it was a kin to butter !!! I know my puppy is a strong girl but that being said, surely no puppy should be able to chew through the material. Do not buy if your dog is prone to chewing as it could be dangerous.

Great price and very durable!

I bought this for a labrador puppy to play with. Its a great size for her to carry in her mouth. It would suit labrador puppies up to around 6 months old or smaller breed dogs. It seems to be pretty durable and she hasn't made many marks on it. Its great for teething and is a lovely bright red so is easy to find in a garden. Its a great price too!

Tough Toy

I first came across one of these while shopping at a discount pet supplier. It was actually marketed as a toy for ferrets - but is the exact same thing. Our dogs LOVED it. So, I took to Amazon and after a lot of searching, I finally found them. Our Maltese cross makes fairly short work of them. They last around a week or so (the ends last a month or more) so, it tends to be fairly expensive. However, I can't deny him these as they're so good for his teeth and at keeping him occupied. They're still very tough though and I shall buy one a month for him (and the other two, if they get a look in).
