Great value in a fast flowing India ink
I'm a fan of Chartpak inks, which are produced under the Higgins and Koh-i-noor brand names. This ink is a very quick flowing ink that is charcoal black, not jet black. This is a very useful option if you are using a surface that takes thinner inks well, like hot press illustration board or bristol plate. I found that it is a bit to thin for a lot of cold pressed boards or drawing papers, and oddly it gets a bit fuzzy on Duralar and Durabright. With a brush the fast flowing nature of the ink lends itself to quick strokes. This ink is pretty much the opposite of Speedball India, which is jet black and more viscous. The Speedball will give high buildup on film or hard surfaces, while the Higgins is low build. I suspect it would be fantastic in an airbrush. Pigment based, so no issues with fading. The cost per ounce is very reasonable, and I'd consider a staple for an artist that works in ink. (I wish Higgins sold the Black Magic ink in larger sizes).

good ink, bad lid
A great quality ink, but the bottle leaves something to be desired. The lid is not to be trusted. The pour spout is useless due to leaking around the cap. This is a different type of plastic used in this bottle cap than in previously purchased units. I never had problems with the caps leaking in the past. The price jumped way up since my last purchase, too.

Nice cap.
It's okay. Not as dark as the current ink that I'm using. The lighter shade of the sky is the Higgins, undiluted. The darker shade of the sky is another brand. I really like the nozel. Some warnings though, make sure that the cap is VERY tight and SECURED before you squeeze the bottle, or you're gonna have a huge spraying mess and leak.

LOTS of ink
Lots of ink for a good price, my first Indian ink though- I’m used to acrylic ink. So I probably will save this for a large project instead of daily.

Higgins Waterproof India Ink
What can I say? It's the industry standard for drafting and ink drawing, and for dip pen calligraphy. Can't beat it for its intended uses. Don't use it in a fountain pen, though, the shellac and carbon black will clog it. Higgins has a special India ink for fountain pen use. Make sure you're getting the right stuff.

Difficult to pour without making a mess.
I am happy with the large bottle of ink but, it is a little hard to pour into small containers.
