Sturdy & Beautiful Square Planter
I have quite a few Kante planters in Slate Grey so the Tall Square Small Planter was an obvious addition for the outdoor garden. Kante planters in my collection include the large rectangular boxes, the round bowl planters and the cylinders. They all coordinate really well together and create a modern, streamlined vibe that retain the focus on the foliage. From a distance, these appear to be real, solid concrete, which I would personally prefer, but struggle to locate. I mostly grow succulents in my front yard garden. These are the perfect size for Aloes that come in a 1 gallon nursery pot. (Most come with WAY to much filler soil so once I knock it off, this size more than accommodating.) Of course, this contains a drainage hole at the bottom but Kante planters also come with plugs. I’ve never utilized the plugs so I can’t weigh in on how effective they are at making it a “waterproof vessel.” I use a well draining soil mix in these to grow succulents. The hybrid material is not as porous as terra-cotta or real concrete so I’ve found this to be imperative to optimal plant health. If you’re using regular garden or succulent soil, I suggest amending it with a good amount of perlite (quantity depending upon the species you’re growing, your individual climate and your watering habits). In addition to amending with perlite, also mix in horticultural charcoal (to discourage fungal growth), pumice and Bonsai Jack’s Gritty Mix. Since I’ve has some issues with fungus gnats, I sprinkle in some Mosquito Bits. If the vessel is super large in comparison to the root system, I’ll include some decomposed granite. Additionally, I top dress with a couple inches of pumice to dissuade Mealy Bugs from laying eggs in the soil and add a layer of small white gravel for aesthetic purposes. So far, I have 3 of these planters and will likely order more in the future. They seem to be a bit more reliable than the larger Kante planters as none of them have shown signs of cracking. (All of the large rectangular Kante planter boxes I own have cracks, as the seem ill-equipped to handle the weight of soil and plants.)

Bought it “used” great deal!
I have 7 planters by this company, and love them! Empty they are lightweight enough to move (even the largest ones) and position on my patio, when filled they are heavy enough to stay put even through some bad storms. One with a larger palm tree I did teather to my patio railing so it doesn’t tip, but for the most part they are very sturdy. I do have my tulip shaped ones in plant stands too for a more “mid century modern” look, and they sit nicely in them. These square ones do a fabulous job of allowing me to add height variation in my patio garden as they come in a variety of sizes, and allow me to have plants and small trees that require more depth to thrive… it’s hard finding extra tall planters, and this company has them! One of the “used” discounted ones I bough had a corner chip, I just positioned it so it’s not visible, however the cheap discount planters that have cosmetic imperfections can so easily be patched with any quick mix cement, color matched grout, or other filling compound easily found at a store like Home Depot, so all the ones I’ve bought were the “used” discount versions…. Only 2 of the 7 of them really had cosmetic damage though. Overall, highly recommend these! The modern look really suits making my patio a sanctuary and tropical paradise.

great planter.... and honest review
I think this planter is easily a 5 star product. I think Kante has done a great job overall; though nothing is perfect and I have a critique. THE GOOD: 1) beautiful contemporary raw understated styling 2) YES, there is a drainage hole on the bottom in the center 3) The fibercrete material will patina each you water the plant. I love this effect as it gives the planter way more character and looks even more raw. In bonsai, the more character the planter has the better and I find this concept also makes house plants look great as well. Some people wont like this patina effect but I think its amazing and ads to it's value (for me) 4) very light weight considering it's designed to look like concrete. 5) packaging is very secure and well done and professional. THE BAD: 1) On the bottom side of the planter there are channels that divert the water coming out of the hole in the bottom of the planter. These channels arent the best design. They channel the water to the 4 corners of the planter. The reason this isnt ideal is that it makes it difficult to secure silicon pads/feet in the corners to prevent the planter from scratching the table you put it on. So I ended up having to use 8 silicon pads instead of 4 as I had to put them in more strategic areas. If the channels were instead directing the run off water off the sides (instead of the corners) then Id just have to use 4 silicon pads in each corner to prevent scratching a table it sits on. Overall, it's not that big of a deal, silicon pads arent expensive. (btw I secure the silicon pads with epoxy or crazy glue typically... if I ever want to take them off I can pop them off with a screw driver no problem) OVERALL: Great product. Love it and I highly recommend it for those who love that contemporary (and/or industrial) look with clean lines at a great price. The patina effect with each watering is beautiful

I should have taken the reviews into consideration
One person reviewed and said the color was more blue than gray and it is. It totally didn't match my color scheme in my dining room for an artificial tree, so I replaced it with something else. I may put it outside in the yard in the spring for an outside planter.

Quality
It's high quality, feels a lot like an aluminum planter. The lip of the planter decreases the top by two inches, if you are planning to place something in it. We had an item that was 13". However, since the lip is 11" inches, it did not fit, past the top. The grey is actually more of a blue color. It would also make a great temporary outdoor trash can for picnics or a pool party, since it is very sturdy. We needed two people to move it.
