Excessive toe spring
I like the way the boots look, the materials seem nice, and it's mostly wide enough for me (US 12 wide) even though I'm pretty much fully converted to more "foot shaped" shoes with very wide toe boxes and flexible soles. If you wear shoes like that, you're probably aware of the lack of durable boots with such features. I tried out these Keen boots as hopefully a good compromise. My issue is the toe spring, or how much the toe rises up from the rest of the sole. These Keen shoes are quite stiff so the toe end doesn't flex much. I almost immediately had discomfort in my left big toe from the pressure placed on it by the angle of the toe end. Most of my other shoes will flatten out on the toe end when I put them on or they are already flat. As good as they looked, I knew I wasn't going to survive a 10 hour work day in these boots.

I only received one shoe in the box, the right foot.
Disappointing to receive half the package

Surprisingly Good Romeo/Chelsea-Style boot!
Let me start by stating that I have worn slip-on Romeo/Chelsea-style boots for 30 years (before it was hip). My first and favorite for the majority of that time was the Australian Made Rossi Endura 303. Fantastic boot if you haven't tried them! Since then I have tried Redbacks (good), and recently a Carhartt Romeo (comfy but wearing fast). I have also been a big Keen fan since my first pair of Keen sandals. The wide toe box fits my wide Flintstone feet perfectly. I own Keen hiking boots and steel toe pull-on boots among others. Because of the large rock (railroad ballast sized) covered facility I work at, I have been on a quest for a slip on/Chelsea style boot that has a little more stability and ankle support, and keeps my feet dry. Having just found the Keen Juneau Romeo Soft Toe, I had to try it. I have only had these for a brief time but in just one outing running some errands and a walk with my dog, they have already settled in with no hot spots. The sole seems strong and stable, while the upper cups the heel and ankle well and seems to surpass the support I have normally received from romeo/chelsea style boots. I am very impressed so far, and pleased with my purchase. I have replaced the insole with a more padded "Copper Fit-Work" insole which is the norm for me. As far as longevity goes, we shall see! For $235.00 they better hold up! I am not shoveling ditches or pouring concrete, I'm just a manager who covers a lot of ground between offices and a rocky yard full of commercial trucks and drivers. This is a USA made Keen, which is awesome, and should be a sign of good build quality. I will update if I have any regrets or problems. So far, so good!

Great fit, even with my orthotic inserts and weird feet. Comfortable and stable!
I wanted a little variety in my workday footwear, and I'm glad I took a risk on these pull-on work boots from Keen! I love that they're made in the USA, and I appreciate the attention to detail that Keen puts into every shoe they make. The factory insoles are easy to pull out and replace with custom insoles (if you've got non-standard feet like me). I was pleased to see that even with my funky orthotics, my feet fit perfectly into these. It took me a day or so to get used to the internal construction elements at the heel and the crown that are there to keep pull-on boots from coming loose, but the adjustment was pretty quick and it's nice not to have to deal with laces! I'm walking around just like I do in my normal work boots, no difference in performance whatsoever. The soles are nicely constructed and seem to take daily wearing with ease. There's a nice level of shock absorption present that's balanced between stability and softness. The toe boxes are rubber so I haven't scuffed up the leather from running into any rough edges on the jobsite, which is a great design element. I'm super pleased with these boots and I appreciate that Keen offers a "wide" option with each of the sizes so that I can fit into them just as well as someone with "normal" feet... sounds funny, but if you know, you know!

Well made boot. Slightly small.
I've been wearing some Keen composite toe shoes at work for over a year. I got those in size 10.5 and they fit loose. I was a bit concerned about these boots being big but went for size 11 in case I needed to add some cushion. I'm glad I went up the half size. These boots in 11 are a nice fit for my size 10.5 feet. I measure my feet 10.5 inches from heal to toe. These are really well made and while I have only worn them around the house I can tell they will last. I usually wear new shoes for a full day barefoot to get a feel for the insides but I skipped that step with these. They aren't the most comfortable shoe and sacrifice soft for solid. I will be replacing the stock insoles with something offering support. There's plenty of room for it. Keen shoes come at a premium price but have outlasted any other brand of shoe I have reviewed. I recommend these boot for being rugged and easy to pull on and off.
