Needs fussing to keep food hot for 4hrs

To be useful in our household, this thermal bowl needs to keep food hot for 4 hrs. If the food is tepid (i.e. slightly warmer than room temp), the food becomes the ideal breeding ground for bacteria. It requires some fussing to achieve 4 hrs of keeping food hot. First, mark the start of the thread on the bowl and the lid with a permanent marker. (This will allow you to align these quickly and wind down so that the lid is flat to the bowl and no gaps are left that allow heat to leak out. Screw the lid down until it's snug. If you hear a high pitched noise of air leaking, give another 1/8 -1/4 turn. Do not over tighten, or it becomes nearly impossible to open the bowl -- the heat pulls a vacuum.) Second, fill the bowl with boiling water, align the mars on lid and bowl, screw down the lid, and let sit for 3-4 min while you heat the food in a microwave. Heat until the food is just about volcanic. (In our microwave, this is 3 min on high; stir; 1 min on high.) Dump the boiling water when the food is heated. Dry the bowl with a quick swipe if the miniscule amount of remaining water will ruin your food. Pour in the super-heated food, align the marks on the lid and bowl, and screw down until flat to each other and tight. Listen for air leaks and give another 1/8-1/4 turn if you hear it. Third, place the filled bowl in a thermal bag and force the air out of the bag. Wind down excess material and secure with a rubber band. The food will still be hot (but not nearly as hot as it was coming out of the microwave) after 4 hrs if you do this. (Added note: If the bowl in the thermal bag sits in a winter cold car for 30 min, 4 hrs is not attained.)

I bought this for my daughters lunch so I could send Mac and cheese to school or noodles with butter. it isn't super easy to close and open for someone who is 8 but she has lunch aids... she said the noddles were not hot by the time she had lunch... ran it through the dish washer and it did hold up. probably good for cold things though. I'm sure noodles will stay warm if it isn't winter time? maybe...

My son love it!

Search high and low for a thermal bowl shape lunch box for my son. We like the wide mouth, and the handle on top makes it easier to open with small hands. Although it won't keep the food too hot likes the Zojirushi, but still keeps food warm til the school lunch time.

Does not keep food hot!

It’s very unfortunate because the bowl size and shape and what it seem like for now the durability is great but it won’t keep the food hot. That and the size were the reason why I bought this.

Good concept container but didn’t do the job as expected!

I bought this food container for my daughter to bring lunch to school but too bad it didn’t worked out and had to return it. I liked it because it’s big enough for lunch size serving and with the wide mouth made it easier to stir and scooped foods from it. It was easy to clean. I had to return it because it didn’t keep the foods warm enough by lunch time despite I preheated with hot water before storing foods in there.
