Great knife holder

Purchased the large one in July 2019 (39.00). Sits out of the way against the backsplash, the accordion shaped insert that holds the knives is tight, adjusts and holds upright any shape and size knife, not like most others where the knives keep leaning over to the side. I have a set of kitchen utility knives and 2 sets of steak knives, kitchen scissors, knife sharpener. Only 1 problem, my mistake. Although it all easily comes a part to clean, I washed it in the dishwasher. Not sure if this was the cause, but the plastic body is now full of cloudy spots, it looks horrible. Tried covering with window film, but not the best option. Point is, body not dishwasher safe, unless you don't care how it looks, and expensive to replace with same, which I am doing now. I have not found any other on the market with the same functions that would be more durable, I wish the body was glass instead of the plastic, for this I took 1 star.

Great knife holder

Had the smaller version of this knife holder and really liked it. Bought this bigger one and am able to see all the knives more clearly. Like the narrow depth as it fits along the back counter much better. Worth the price.

Great Knifeholder

This is a great knife holder. it is attractive and sturdy and functional. It takes up very little room. It does not tip over as my old knife holder did.

Pros outweigh minor cons. Love the simple design.

We picked this product after hours of research online for the best universal knife block. The PROS outweigh the cons: -Simple design doesn't stand out. The glass and black trimming blend in with our black granite kitchen counter and wall. -Seems easy to clean, although we haven't yet. The black piece at the bottom pops off. We dry our knives completely before storing them, so we don't anticipate having to clean the block very often. -Good value for the price, especially considering how expensive nice knife blocks can be. The CONS are several annoyances, but nothing too serious: -Small 3.25" paring knife fits loosely unless you lodge it into the ends closer to the glass where the rubber is tighter and the knife doesn't move around and hit the glass. (https://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Paring-Knife-Straight-Spear/dp/B0019WXPQY) -Large 10" bread knife doesn't fit completely - the blade sticks out just less than an inch. More importantly, it hits the bottom every time we put it in, so we put a small towel at the bottom. Now it's fine; just not as pretty. Not really a problem for us since we only have 10 knives in it; just kind of a hassle when you stick a knife there and it hits plastic so you have to find a new place for it...also probably not great for a knife edge. -I'm 5'3" (short) and it feels just a tad too high for me, since the knives are stored vertically (or almost vertically) unlike a traditional slanted knife block. SUMMARY: We're very happy with the product. The pros outweigh the small cons, which may or may not apply to some people. It occurred to us that it would be nice if they sold another size that's a little longer to store more knives, but it probably wouldn't be as well balanced if it were.

Fits all my knives!

I purchased a set of knives from Costco that came with plastic covers. I stored these in my silverware drawer but didn’t like how much space they took up. I then needed a deboning knife and found one made by Mercer that I liked, but the cost of the sheath was almost the same as the knife! That made me decide to look for something I could store all my knives in that wouldn’t use a lot of space on my counter. This knife holder exceeded my expectations. Not only did it accommodate ALL my knives (including the bread slicer) with room for more, it looks great, doesn’t move, and is so much better than a wooden knife block. Love it!

Compact, Gentle on Knives, and Sturdy. Kuhn Rikon doesn't miss!

The media could not be loaded. Such a space saver and much more convenient than a wall mounted, magnetic knife rack in my opinion. Unless you want to pay for a truly well-crafted one that has some sort of buffer (wood, rubber, even cloth, etc) between your knife and the magnet. Otherwise it's a golden opportunity to chip or dent your knives. You don't have to worry about that with this knife holder by the geniuses at Kuhn Rikon. Known for their peelers (always buying those because once people try them they somehow end up walking away with them haha) KR's other products often get overlooked despite their innovative Swiss engineering is applied to every one of their products. I can't get over how much space this saves as well. As you can see I keep mine on my countertop because, well, I can and it doesn't get in the way. And don't worry you won't knock it over, the base has a rubberized rim around that creates pressurized suction underneath of it so if your hand, bowl, knife, whatever hits it, it won't topple over. Within reason of course. Don't take a baseball bat to it and you'll be fine ????

Small footprint, easy to see knives, doesn’t tip

I have a random assortment of different knives and different brands. This one holds almost all of them except my cleaver. One of my best kitchen purchases! 1. It takes up very little space, especially compared to a wood knife block. I also don’t have many drawers in my little kitchen, so now I can save room by putting the knives on the counter. 2. It’s clear so I can see exactly which knife I’m pulling out. You can’t always tell by the handle. 3. It holds more knives than you think. I can still fit more in it. 4. It has never tipped over. It’s brilliantly weighted on the bottom. 5. It is easy to clean. It doesn’t look fancy so if that is important to you, this isn’t it. But I value function over aesthetics so it is perfect for me. It’s also just plastic so I am sure that it could break if dropped, but I never move it around in my house.

Kuhn Rikon Knife Holder

This is a terrific knife holder for our purposes. We bought it to replace a block with plastic rods whose rods kept bending to the point of not being able to hold knives safely or securely. The design of the Kuhn Rikon is unique: a plastic accordion that fits in the top holds the knives, and ours range from 2 1/2" wide, 8" long chef's knives to paring knives. Ours is currently storing 16 knives and could easily store as many more of similar sizes.

Really good looking and very functional

Really pleased with this. It replaced my old round knife block that was difficult to clean and only held a few knives. This beauty not only looks great, it’s also easy to clean and holds all my knives and scissors. It seems pretty robust too. Great buy. Absolutely worth every penny!

Quality Storage For Quality Items

It's a great product, well made as usual with this brand. It has larger slots than regular blocks making the storage of wider bladed knives easier. It's more stable than you think it will be, even when full. I bought this as a gift for my better quality knives, to keep them from arguing with those of lesser breeding whilst stored in the earlier version which is slim line but didn't take my wide bladed knife. However, I didn't realise they were such snobs!! They fit so snugly in their new home that they won't leave it without a struggle and I need two hands to prize them out for use!!!! I can only fit nine knives of various sizes in the block at present, it's new and stiff, so I daresay with use and age, it will get easier to use. The slots in the earlier version have adapted to the shape of the contents therefore I recommend this product, it doesn't disappoint.

All 'sharps' safe in one place

Have been searching for a while for somewhere to store my kitchen knives and scissors (of which I have many) and which would accommodate all the different shapes and sizes of knives I have collected over the years. This is absolutely perfect. It holds large (as in both wide and long) knives as well as short, small knives nice and securely and you can fit loads of items in it. I currently have 15 knives and 2 pairs of scissors in it, thus creating much needed space in kitchen drawers. Knives etc are on the worktop and are handy to grab and with the perspex base you can see which knife you want if you can't recognise them by the handle or if you have a set and all the knives look the same. I love this item and my husband noticed it immediately and thought it was excellent!
