should have bought this years ago
I resisted buying a Vitamix for a long time. I thought it was an indulgence that I didn't need. when my very good old blender died, I replaced it with a newer model--almost worthless. it wouldn't even blend all of a banana in a smoothie. my daughter recommended a ninja, and I got one, but I hated it. the noise! that tower of blades! this vitamix, on the other hand, is the bomb. straight out of the box I used it to blend a batch of palak paneer into a sauce for topping veggie bowls. I couldn't get all the residue out of the bottom, so I threw in the last of the beans and an avocado, with some lime and spice, and hey presto, spicy avocado dip! it took no time at all to make a very smooth and creamy product with both these blends. my only question is, how do you scrape out the residue trapped in the bottom--not for cleaning, for avoiding waste--? and it is not nearly as loud as that refund Oster blender that now goes to Goodwill. I did not buy a larger more powerful model because I'm just cooking for me, but I did spring for the stainless steel blender container, and I love it! the amount of turmeric in my very first blend would have turned the plastic container yellow forever.

Spend the money!
I was looking to replace a Ninja blender which I had just recently bought but it didn’t live up to my expectations. After reading the reviews I found that others had similar experiences with Ninja and recommended this as a replacement. And they were right. Everything I’ve tried here: smoothies, hummus and chocolate mousse, has turned out amazing. What’s even better is this blender is quiet! Half of the noise of the ninja! Easy to clean and takes up about the same amount of space as the ninja. This was definitely worth the investment.

Powerful blender
We mainly make smoothies, but I was interested in having something that could make nut milks, peanut butter, etc. I had an old Hamilton Beach brand blender which lasted along time, but wasn't particularly powerful. When it started to burn out I decided to get something a little nicer. I did a LOT of research. The Vitamix generally scored pretty high on all the tests, with some complaints of it being too loud, heavy, powerful??? and expensive. I decided to bite the bullet and buy one. It is loud for sure. It's heavy and big. It is super powerful. Some people complained that it's too powerful and that at high speed it creates an air pocket around the blades. Adding a little liquid usually solves that problem for me, the few times it happened. It happened once making hummus and I just used the little tamp down tool they give you to push stuff into the blades. You can just turn the power down a few steps too. I don't really see it as a problem. I'd rather have the extra power there. The fact that the blades aren't removeable makes cleaning a little harder, especially with the thick stuff, but you can usually just pour some soapy water in there and run the blades at high speed to clean them. I think my biggest complaint is that the pitcher doesn't feel very secure on the mount. Like my picture shows, you put the pitcher on the motor mount and when you turn the blades on and the torque kicks in, the whole pitcher twists on the mount. It doesn't feel totally secure. I don't think it would ever go flying off or anything. Once it twists and catches on the rubber footing underneath, it feels secure. It just seems like an odd thing that Vitamix would make a pitcher base that is a little larger than the mount it's sitting on. Unless there's some design reason for it. It just feel off. That being said, it's an amazing blender. I make smoothies with cashews, dry oats, chia seeds, etc, and with the old blender it was always a little gritty. This things blends everything 100%, no leftover bits of things in the smoothy. I made oatmilk and it was totally smooth, no bits to strain out. Maybe I could have gotten similar results with a cheaper blender? I don't regret spending the money. It feels super solid and well built.

How did I ever live without it?
It’s chunky. It’s ugly. And it just works. Like a dream. It quietly powers through anything. It cleans up in seconds. It seems to be indestructible. So I have to stash it in a cabinet. (shrugs) I know it’ll be there on the ready when I need it!

A bit noisy but best blender on the market
I just bought this to replace my 25 yr old Vitamix (which is actually still running!). It's still really high quality and made in the U.

Love my Vitamix!
Best blender/food processor ever! Easy to use, easy to clean. Great for soups, smoothies, dips and more! Powerful enough to blend whole apples and carrots!

Lots of power with small plastic pitcher
Saw this used extensively on The Food Network, so when my Ninja started to leak I thought I would give it a try! I expected more power and features given the price tag (twice as much as the Ninja), and for the most part was satisfied with that. However the cheaper looking plastic pitcher, it came with is a bit too small and does not lock onto the motor, like cuisinarts and even Ninja. The tamper feature is nice but the removable plastic access port is cheaply made and all of the plastic parts on pitcher are too sharp for older fingers. Somewhat disappointed given the price, (comes with made in the USA) I guess. Overall decent, not amazing

Very sturdy
Ease of use and teh sturdiness of the equipent along with the multiple levels of power makes this mixture blender the best I could get, even though it is costly

Worth it
I've used a few blenders in the past and eventually stopped using them because they are difficult to clean, have trouble blending basic stuff, and are just generally poorly built. I'd hear about Vitamix and immediately thought how much better could they possibly be? Well, due to some health issues(and my old blender giving off a terrible odor when it overheats) I decided to get one of the most affordable models and see for myself. I am completely sold on Vitamix now. The power available to blend pretty much anything to the very well thought out design and engineering that makes use and cleaning a pleasure. I am very happy with it. In fact, the superior analog controls of the cheaper model doesn't even have me thinking about buying a more expensive one. Unless you include the professional quiet model designed for cafes etc. Anyway, if you're in the market for one I highly recommend the one I purchased. It is rock-solid in terms of performance and design. I have no regrets.

This is a Great Machine
This machine works great, so easy to clean and you don't have to worry about any glass breaking on it.
