Large Knob - Easiest to Use of all I've tried

There are some slightly different versions that have plastic inlet connections instead of brass as shown with this model. The brass inlet connector takes up less room than the plastic ones making this model easier to attach to faucets that have little room (as is the situation where vinyl siding on my garage makes threading bulky connectors onto the faucet difficult). At three other locations, I continue to use the other versions because the larger plastic connector is easier to thread onto the faucet, especially when wearing gloves. ***Regardless of this difference, the big knob, push buttons, and LCD display is a better combination than any other single outlet timers I've tried over the years. The big knob has large markings and large LCD making it easy to read and find what one is looking for. The big knob and large push buttons make it easier for large hands, even when wearing gloves. Reliability: Some of the Orbit one outlet Single-Dial timers I've had for more than 5-years. One of the old ones has a weak LCD display that while usable has a narrow viewing angle. Remove the timer before freezes come, and remove the two AA batteries during winter storage, and it should last for years. Batteries: Two alkaline AA batteries installed in the Spring always lasted the full season and there was still enough "juice" left to power the unit at the beginning of the next year. Water pressure: I use these running 60 psi water pressure. While I haven't measured the pressure loss through the valve, it appears to be minimal (timer outlet connected to 100-ft hose on hose reel: delivers a little more than 6 gals /min).

Easy

This timer is really easy to program. Easy to turn off and on when you have rain and don’t want to waste water. Easy to change batteries. I love it!

Product Okay, Customer Service Sucks

The watering timer with BRASS inlet coupling works just as advertised, the same model with a PLASTIC inlet coupling is less expensive and will often break on installation (can't be repaired). The battery holder in the back of one of my units fell out and could not be retrieved. I called Orbit Customer (Call Back Only) Service and requested help getting a new battery holder. No support or suggestions were forthcoming and the snarky representative said no such part could be purchased, period. I was told that my only option was to purchase another new $40. unit, which I did not need. To conclude Orbit Customer Service has been non-supportive to deplorable. I am changing my irrigation products to another brand, lessons learned.

Work great, don't use teflon tape!

Most people think they have to use teflon tape to get tight seals. Most hose connections don't work that way. They use the gasket inside to create the seal. Teflon tape will only make your connections leaky! Counter intuitive, but the timer will be perfectly leak free if you don't use teflon tape.

Easy and accurate

I use mine for several gardens, and in two years of owning it I haven’t had any breaks or leaks. I don’t abuse mine but it’s still pretty awesome. Despite full sun and rain exposure I haven’t had a battery change or a fault. I would recommend it.

Make sure to remove it from the water source during freezing weather to make sure it works again come springtime.

Get the one with the brass head!

I had an all-plastic one that leaked. Man, why they thought to try to 'perfect' already good ideas by replacing brass with plastic is beyond me. Get this one with the brass head. It reduces risk of leaks. Otherwise, it's working fine; so far, so good. Self-explanatory setup and it works fine.

Outlet has a different fitting thread

My earlier Orbit waterier died so I bought a new one from Amazon. Connects perfectly on the inlet side, but the outlet has a different thread... Much More coarse and BSP / Hoselock / NPT wont fit, so I cant use it... Pls advise what thread this is...??? I wonder if this is an 'American-spec' unit that Amazon.co.uk have shipped to me...??

Useless - see video.

The media could not be loaded. This is useless. The brass coupling cannot be tightened and water sprays everywhere. I thought that by buying an Orbit for 20odd £ rather than a cheap look-alike it might actually work as well as my other 7 Orbits bought 6 years ago, but it seems I was wrong. Didn’t think to check it before use and now I can’t return it. Furious! Wanted to leave no stars but not possible. DO NOT BUY.

Leaking leaking and... Leaking :/

The media could not be loaded. Worked great for the first season. Second, you can see the photo /video. I'll try the warranty now. I hope it works. (I'll update it) [Update 27 June] - I've called them to quest warranty and after 2h waiting, I could talk to someone. He asked me to send the receipt and s/n. I did and after almost month, NO ANSWER. (and they don't answer my emails...)
