Sturdy. Exactly what I needed but….
This little giant ladder was just what I thought I was looking for. I wanted a stepstool that was easier to haul from storage than a ladder do use for short jobs that were just a little bit above my head. It was easy to step up on and very sturdy and perfect for the small jobs around my home that I needed to do. As I read the reviews prior to purchase I thought I understood the issues that others had had being a little tough to put up and down and people were saying that they were not strong enough to do it. I have always been a person in my family who is strong and Complete jobs requiring strength that even those younger than I cannot do. So I really didn’t think too much about the issues people were having with not having enough strength . The little giant ladder went up easily and I used it with no problems. When I went to fold it down again I had difficulty getting the handrail down and I went back and referred to the instructions and well suffice it to say this will not work for me because I cannot get it folded down. Manufacturers… Please consider maintaining the sturdiness of this step ladder but with an easier mechanism to fold it back up.

The Ladder You Will Never Regret Buying
I bought this Little Giant Safety Step for my wife who seems to be unduly occupied with whatever stuff she has stored on the upper shelves of her high closet. Watching her standing on a tall wood box gave me reason to worry for her safety. Even so, she gave me one of "those looks" when I said that I was bringing home a Little Giant for her. Some precise measurements: Floor to 1st step 8-3/4" Floor to 2nd step 17-3/4" Both steps measure 14-3/16" wide and 9-1/8" front-to-back... with a 1" high nose Floor to top of extended handle 33-3/4" The handle width is 18-1/4" side to side, but the grab width at the top is effectively 13" before curving downward. Made of steel: handle hinges, brackets, all rivets, and bearings. Made of aluminum: the basic A frame structure, handle, under-stair tubes, and rear brace. The steps appear to be heavy castings. Without divulging specifics, I just happen to be the *perfect test* for the stated weight capacity of this stepladder. ;) It feels rock steady to me... and it will certainly feel that way to anyone carrying fewer pounds. The most important point I want to make about this Little Giant Safety Step is that you feel much more like you are standing on normal stair steps than on a ladder. Stair steps feel comfortable, secure and safe; ladder rungs do not! You can stand on this for hours without fatigue. The engineering put into this Little Giant Safety Step is apparent. Each part appears more than strong enough to accomplish its task. The parts work in concert; the stepladder opens and closes smoothly and with ease. If you're tired of risking your life standing on the sorts of bargain-priced stepladders that are usually employed by homeowners, *this* is just the ladder for you. While no stepladder can guarantee you won't break bones if you ignore basic safety rules, this Little Giant is not likely to be the reason for any mishap. I supervised construction and would never buy or use a cheap ladder of any kind ---- your safety is well worth the extra money.

LIke most things that statement has two sides
I just received this ladder today so I don't have any experience to share except my first impression as I unpackaged it which may be important to some Folks: THIS IS A HEFTY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT! LIke most things that statement has two sides: 1) I'm 270lbs and it doesn't bow, squirm, wiggle or cry under my weight and it feels like it'll last a long time; 2) I suspect that there are Folks who'll experience some trouble manhandling this thing and that's why I (perhaps unfairly) deducted a star. I have an oak dining set and this ladder once the handle is extended is very close to the same size as one of the chairs but heftier. For those who have no problem with its heft I suspect this ladder will become one of those things I have that when asked about I'll have had it for so long that I won't be able to remember how long I've had it :P Some unlisted specifications: The bottom step is 8 3/4" from the floor, the top step is 17 1/2" from the floor and the top of the handle once extended is 33 3/4" from the floor. I'm 5'8" tall and can easily reach my 8-foot ceilings. Once fully opened the footprint is 23 1/4" front-to-back and 21" side-to-side at the rear legs (below the handle) which are a little wider than the front legs. I can store this ladder in a 5 1/2" space between my refrigerator and a wall.

The Good, the Bad
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Good: Very stable and safe. Very well constructed and absolutely no instability at the joints resulting in no wobble. Bad: It is not child friendly in that it is heavy (15 lbs) and has pinch points. Not easy to unfold. Expensive compared to lighter weight models. Ugly: My wife takes it out of the box and instinct says you pull the hand rail out and it pops open. Very wrong!! The first time (and we did not read the instructions because it is a simple step stool - what could go wrong?) This is what happened, if you extend the handle first and pull on the steps to open, the upper/outer sections of the supports jam under the handlebar and it jams and scars the finish. The open/close instructions are poorly located with a small sticker on one of the outer legs. Am sure if one of our grown kids comes to our house and tries to use it, they too will replicate what we did. The manufacturer needs to put a sticker on the top of the handle, which is the first thing you see, and simply say "To open pull steps first. To close, fold handrail first." An easy fix. We actually wrote with a Sharpie, those words on the top of the handrail to remind us and others so that the steps don't jam.

Almost perfect!
Have these in work and I love them however this model doesn't permit me to fold down the top handle when in use probably a safety reason. But I love how its perfectly sized for use indoors (8ft ceilings)

Sturdy!
Way better than a cheap plastic foot stool. Well made. It's just little heavier than I would like but other than that it's great. Safety first!
