Fun introduction to nature journaling for kids

This colorful activity journal is a great way to introduce children to the concept of nature journaling. The 32 page book measures about 6x8.5" and is spiral bound so it can lay flat. The pages are very thick and sturdy, and hold up well to little hands. Activities include a good variety of things to do outdoors, such as collecting nature specimen, listening walks, drawing, scavenger hunts, etc. Additionally, you receive stickers that you can use as "badges" to mark completed challenges. There is a pocket in the back for storing the stickers, which is a useful feature. I think one way to improve this product would be to include a small muslin or cotton drawstring baggie to let kids collect some of their nature treasures. I would have also preferred to have the binding not be plastic. Other than that, the journal is a great way to get kids outside and practice their ability to notice things around them.

Awesome way to encourage outdoor play

My daughter had been wanting to create a nature journal and when I found this, I thought it would be a perfect Christmas gift for her. She absolutely loves it and has spent so much time outside to find all the little things to fill in the squares. She loves all the stickers that comes with the book also. I think it's a really great collection of easy to find things but still varied to keep it interesting.

Fun Nature Journal That Takes Time To Fill

This is a fun nature journal—it combines drawing, finding outdoor objects and adding stickers, which are included. For every page that requires outdoor activities, there’s a page that can be worked on indoors too. This isn’t something that can be finished quickly, and it makes a nice keepsake once completed. Our six year old nature lover very much enjoys working in her journal—the directives inspire creativity as well.

Perfect for explorer kids

I have a 7 year old who loves being out in nature, exploring and identifying things. This is PERFECT. There are so many different activities to do. It varies with things like searching, collecting, sketching and imagining, and there are stickers that you use to decorate with. The journal has some more uncommon activities in it, like stomping items onto a page, and leaving gifts for a favorite tree. It helps keep this from being boring and repetitive. There are enough activities to last a long time, especially since not every page can be finished in one day. The pages are wire bound, and the book stays open so it's easy to use. I will warn you that the pages are thick but glossy, so regular pencils and crayons aren't going to work well. Your best bet is permanent marker, and the pages are thick enough that there's no bleed through. This would be a great activity for any kids who like being in the outdoors.

Outside fun for young ones

In a day when little ones are increasingly addicted to electronics, thank goodness for companies like PlayMonster, who put out fun crafts and activities that take kids outside and away from the screen. My 7-year-old niece lives near a wooded area and enjoys exploring already, this scavenger hunt journal gave her even more fun while completing the challenges and activities. Some things are quick and some take time, and the activities are varied and interesting (adopting a favorite tree, for instance), so this is a craft that should provide a long-term experience. The stickers are adorable and fun to use throughout. Really a cute gift for a young (7-10) explorer.

My 7-year-old grandson it obsessed with science. We're having a lot of fun doing this. It gets him out of the house and away from the tv. And he's learning at the same time.
