Barley works to keep ice melted
Really didn’t work that well. Stopped using it half way three winter.

Keeps the gutter free of ice!
I use this on two stretches of my gutter that are prone to icing up. I laid this on top of the metal leaf screen on my gutter. Plugged it into a temperature controlled plug and let winter do it’s thing. Have only been through one winter season so far but it works great! Pretty much keeps the gutter free of snow and ice and we have not had an ice build up problem since.

It works!
We just had 24 inches of snow in 24 hours and the roof, gutters and downspouts and are all doing fine!

Electric gutter warmers
Not too bad to install but you will have to climb a ladder to do it. You will also need outlets close to the gutters for easy plug in. If you run outlets into your attic space you can add an extension cord and put it on a timer. Other than that these work great to prevent ice dams.

Easy to setup, but 150w wasn’t enough to do the job.
150w wasn’t powerful enough to prevent ice dams when the temps were below 20F or the roof accumulation was greater than 4 inches. It was, however, effective in the gutters and downspouts.

Works well for us
Pretty happy with this heat cable. We have a gutter over our front porch that often fills up and freezes so additional runoff drips onto the granite step. Then that freezes causing a very unsafe situation. I snaked this heat tape along the gutter and through the downspout. It doesn't get hot, but it does get warm enough to eventually melt through the build-up of ice. The gutter is now empty and the downspout flows freely. Exactly what I wanted. Doesn't use a lot of electricity, but I still only plug it in as needed. Again, very pleased with this purchase.

Puts heat right where you need it
I bought this when pouring concrete in freezing weather. After the concrete was poured, I snaked the heating cord over the concrete and covered it with a thermal blanket. I checked every few hours and it was creating a very nice even temperature. I used it a second time to clear a basement sewer pipe clogged with kitchen grease. I wrapped the drain pipe with the heater cord and let it heat up enough to clear out the standing water. Once the standing water was cleared, I used chemical sewer cleaner to dissolve the grease. I used it a third time to melt ice from my front porch steps. They were very slippery and dangerous and this cord prevented further ice buildup.

That the product is easy to install and you don't have to mess with it after you've done that.
The wire was very easy to install and it's been working now for a little over three years I believe. We got more snow this year than we have in the last 4 and it takes care of it quite well. We live in a duplex and I put the wire on my mom's side and this year we're going to get one for my side. So far I've had no problems at all. I would recommend this product to my friends.
