Nice tool to have

It's amazing how much this tool came in handy when soldering a bunch of wires, my only complaint is that the alligator clips really dig into the insulation of the wires leaving marks behind. A little tape around the teeth may alleviate this issue...

Way better than the ones from Harbor Freight! Worth the extra $.

The clamps on this helping hand is a screw fixed clamp (as opposed to the pressed-on types from Harbor Freight which cost a few dollars less) and are therefore longer lasting and more secure than the pressed-on type. The base is a bit heavier I think too which means it's a bit more stable. I use these when painting fishing lures and wish now I would have bought this model from the start and not the crappy HF ones which are useless now.

I used this to hold my new Potentiometers while I un soldered the wiring off the old ones and soldered them onto the new pots. This thing was super helpful

Works well if a limited reach is fine. Price is good.

For the price and knowing it's relatively small, it does it job well. It doesn't have much of a reach, so hopefully if you're wiring, or doing something where you need the helping hands, you have a stable surface to put this on. If you're trying to solder something 3 feet off the ground, for example, you'll need to have something to put it on that's stable.
