Good quality, but neutral and live are REVERSED at the plug
Everything about the build-quality is great, especially for a Chinese-made transformer. I opened this unit up (do not attempt unless you're qualified and / or comfortable around electricity) and discovered quality connections and wiring, as well as actual machine screws holding everything together (as opposed to wood screws common on lower-end units). Additionally, the transformer was clearly marked with a "QC PASSED" sticker on the back. Though, take Chinese "quality-control" with a grain of salt. However, upon testing with a multimeter, it's apparent that the incoming live (L) and neutral (N) wires are REVERSED. This is dangerous for a number of reasons. Most importantly, it means that all properly wired appliances plugged into EITHER the 110 or 220 outputs of this unit will have a LIVE voltage present on the neutral wire. Additionally, the 220 volt outlet will be supplying 220 volt split-phase power as opposed to 220 volt line-to-neutral when used in the step-up configuration. This means that BOTH the live and neutral side are carrying 110 volts relative to ground. So while there is still 220 present between the two, the voltages are reversed. This issue can be solved by cutting off the given plug and wiring in your own plug and switching the live and neutral with one another. Be aware, however, that this is with a United States type (NEMA 5-15P) plug. Also, be sure to check your output voltages relative to the incoming power to ensure how your transformer has been wired. It may be that only some of these units are wired incorrectly. So always check for yourself before plugging things in! Good luck folks and have a great day!

Where are the extra fuses?
Hoping this will run my uk antique sewing machine…only gave a three star rating because this unit did not come with extra fuses. Where are the two extra fuses advertised with the unit?

It’s working out great

Solidly built and performs very well.
I bought the step up/down transformer supply to operate a UK computer power supply in the US. The supply is difficult and expensive to buy and very inconvenient to recreate. The Pyle unit is working exceptionally well and very well constructed. It is easy to configure and use. Thank you for a nice product!

So far so good!
So far so good! Purchased since I had a load of Sealey electric tools (British brand) that I moved with me when I came to the USA. They require a 230v power supply, thankfully this supplies it! My only issue with this product, which isn't the end of the world is the fact the UK plug port is very low. Usually UK plugs have the wire coming out of the bottom. I had to raise it up a little bit for it to not be resting on the wire and bending it. Other than that, works well! Coke can for size reference.

Early pains
Urgently needed inexpensive option to replace a similar product which served me faithfully for almost 20 years. This unit seemed to match my needs. 2 spare fuses were missing, not in the box. Unit would not power on. Was ready to initiate return process with Amazon. Gave it one last try after readjusting the fuse screw. It worked. So far, 1 week in, no operational issues. Feels a bit heavier and a bit flimsier than my previous unit.

Does what it says, but build quality is typical low-budget Chinese
I just received this, it works (i.e. I need a 110 to 220 transformer) but the front panel sockets feel very flexible, and un-confidence inspiring. However, it will do the job for what I need, and I will not be doing a lot of plugging/unplugging. UPDATE 6/13/2022: I used it for several hours recently, and was surprised that it got noticeably warm, with a very small load (just basically a wall-wart type power supply inside a piece of equipment). I don't have a way to test with a larger load, but if it got that warm with a small load, I'd be concerned if the load was close to its rating of 500W.

Missing extra fuses
It’s working as of day 1. My only criticism at this point is that the images said that it comes with 2 extra fuse but the box did not contain any.

Can I return it?
This product is too bad!The first time I used it, I smelled a very irritating smell. After checking, I found that the back wire had melted. I stopped using it immediately and now I dare not use it again. What is the problem? Can I use it again? Can I return it? Give me a reply, thank you!

P.O.S. buy something else. (Oh, and they sent me a USED item too!)
Arrived opened and USED!!!! Had scratches and dents on it, and was visibly "re-packaged", and poorly at that. Figured I'd keep it anyway, as I didn't care about the looks too much, but it didn't put out consistent voltage. Power was inconsistent, and jumped all over the place. Useless!
