This product is excellent for emergency needs of a sack
This product is excellent for emergency needs of a sack. The Space Blanket style is quite well done, and it is not too small.

i bought this as an add on purchase. I'm 6ft 330lbs, and I could fit in it! now i have to figure out how to fold it back together. i plan on putting it in my winter car care bag.

good for an emergency
Very light and not sturdy but good for an emergency where you're cold and uncomfortable (to add to a sleeping bag that isn't warm enough). Very small in the package (maybe 3 X 4 inches) and could easily be thrown into a backpack for a little added comfort.

Light weight. Efficient. Surprisingly durable. 100% better than a "space blanket".
I carry this in my pack winter and summer on day hikes because unlike overnight hikes, I do not carry a tent or sleeping bag. Some people carry a so-called space blanket. People I have talked to who have used space blankets in emergencies have very mixed reactions. They find they can not keep them secure around them in a wind for one thing. On the other hand, this bivy sack is secure and creates an envelope around you so it substantially reduces convective heat loss. It provides zero insulation, so it must be used with warm clothing and some sort of insulation from the ground like at least a sit pad. I have unrolled and inspected mine several times and after a couple of years it seems still in good condition. I believe, and so do my hiking/climbing buddies, that you should always be prepared to spend an unexpected night out in the wilderness. This is one of the tools that will help you in an emergency. Light weight. Durable. Possibly could be used inside or outside a sleeping bag in an emergency. If used in heavy rain some sort of small tarp shelter would be a welcome addition to this item.
