Working well so far
I really have never used umbrellas. Never saw much of a need, if I got wet, I got wet. But lately we've had record rainfall and it's been getting annoying, especially since I shave my head, and it's still in the 30's here in Wisconsin. That gets COLD very quick. I wanted an automatic, since I preferred to just be able to crack the car door open, shove my arm out, and hit a button to open it up, and keep the interior of my car (and my head) from getting drenched as I got out of the car. Since it would sit in the car, needed to be pretty portable as well, so this one fit my criteria. I've never had an umbrella that turned inside out from the wind, but I've seen it happen to enough people that I hoped the design of this one, supposedly engineered to help prevent that to some degree, would keep it from happening to me. It arrived quickly. The handle's pretty comfortable, the auto open works VERY well. Push the button and SNAP! It's open and extended. The "auto close" feature is a serious misnomer though. It's an "auto-kind of collapse the top loosely" button. It doesn't close, it just brings the umbrella back into a mostly collapsed at the end loose bundle. The downside to that is there's a surprisingly strong spring inside there that makes it extend, so you have to work to get that collapsed again. The way the spines fold make it pretty rickety when they're in that folded up state, so I don't feel very comfortable just grabbing the whole contraption around the outside and pulling it down, so I just get my palm over the very end of the shaft, and push it back down to the handle. The cover for it really could've been a little bigger, or open rather than being sewn closed with just the slight split in the end, since this doesn't consistently fold up and wrap up again into a nice small bundle that's easy to get back into the case. That's a minor annoyance though since I got it to keep me dry, and lately it's been doing just that. I don't even put it in the case or roll it shut and secure it with the velcro strap, it's easiest to just push the shaft back down and drop it behind the passenger seat on my car to dry and for storage. Out of the way, easy to grab. All in all, it's a nice umbrella, and is a good enough size that even someone my size (over 6' 1") can stay relatively dry.

man's umbrella for MY very occasional use
Says auto open--works fine / auto close--is not auto but manual close, to reset springs and length.push close Ad is misleading OR I just can't get the auto close feature to work ! / For man as slightly heavy from canopy size and construction. Putting it back into pouch is tight fit, so not a snap - would not want it if used OFTEN. Thought description rather made item seem like a one-handed easy operation, Anyway still to test out and figure if it somehow will AUTO-CLOSE as in ad, but seems highly unlikely. Too expensive for just auto open and manual close, unless the operation, material, and construction is as good as it appears. Due to size, slightly heavy closed or open is expected. Appears will be great in wind and rain-strong looking shaft and as compact as a reg. one. Expect will last rather long and work well, unless if frequently used. Good canopy design to protect two people. Rated 3 stars, as not tested-and misconception, I think so far, about the AUTO-CLOSE not being a real feature. I consider it top-of-the-line in general, so extra cost appears a good investment, vs. dealing with umbrellas breaking and small, but cheaper. Better than a TOTE brand, for sure. ---------------------- UPDATE UPDATE - On first use with light sprinkle and wind under 10 mph, it turned inside-out. Very surprised because of excellent construction, especially the wind resistance design at top, allowing wind to pass thru a small 2nd layer canopy cover. / Auto open button may require a few opening attempts. NOTE; Springs under good tension, so manual close requires good push./ Dry well, so no shaft rust ! / 1 star added to rating--BUY UPDATE--kept me dry few times in windy driving rain. A MUST TO OWN ! ADDING 5TH STAR for rating after using lots of times in rainy florida. UPDATE UPDATE -- NOT taking away 1 STAR for the tight fit to get this back into storage bag....mostly because I do not need an umbrella very often. UPDATE April 2014 - Carrying for "if it rains" - nice size. Cannot defend it under heavy wind really, as usually just rain with light wind....and when I use it, I'm usually on my bicycle, so holding it while steering makes keeping real dry, difficult. I do recommend it as probably one of the best, from Amazon. UPDATE Aug 2016 --owned 4 1/2 years --- Very Very seldom used as I'm retired, but sure works well when needed.

Not For Wind
I took this on a month long trip and used it almost everyday for sun and rain. It inverts too easily in wind gusts and had to fix it countless times, eventually it stopped collapsing like it used too. Folds down to a nice small size, but it cannot handle winds at all! False advertising ???? The top canopy also detached at an end :(

It will last year's! Like the old ShedRain I had.
The best umbrella. It survives strong winds and lasts in storms. The only problem is that I like light things. This one is slightly heavy. Heavier than the last ShedRain I had. Other than that it is the only brand I want to buy because I know I'm not wasting my money!
