Try baking instead of stovetop…

I’ve tried using this mold several times and it’s been a bust every time until today. As usual, I oiled my pan (I use avocado oil), set the mold on the warm oil and moved it around to get a seal, put a bit more oil in the mold itself to try to get the inside edges, so the pancake mix wouldn’t stick. I put the stove on low and poured in my mix and an egg yolk. I spread it into the corners with a chopstick, and let it sit. After 5-7 min I realized I poured too much mix and the top just wasn’t solidifying enough to release and flip. The bottom was solid so I transferred it all, still in the mold, to the air fryer and set the air fryer to 350 for 5 min. It was PERFECT! I used the large end of a chopstick to slowly press out the pieces after it had cooled a bit. It’s more time consuming but my kiddo loves it!

Not easy to use

This does not make thin pancakes - more like cakes. This is not easy to use

Plenty of oil, thin batter gets good pancakes

We were able to get pretty good pancakes out of the molds. Our 4 year old recognized the brontosaurus and stegosaurus by name on our first try. Once I pointed out the other was a t-rex she got it. The pancake batter I make is pretty thick and it took some pushing to get it around the eyes and to fill in the dino heads. But it really wasn't hard. Make sure your pan is preheated and you have a good coating of butter/oil underneath. Make sure to let the pancake set (we gave it an extra 30 seconds). You also might want to make thin pancakes. When we flipped ours the back wasn't set, of course, and it kind of pooled out behind the dinos so they had a background. You can cut it off or leave it. It didn't really make an impact on the dinos.

Happiness in a pancake

This is used every Saturday morning at our house. The biggest challenge has been figuring out how full to fill it for a lovely outcome. It has been a little tricky. The unicorns have been turning out better over time. It did get a little discolored when the heat was a bit high, but that was more user error. Can easily be rinsed and thrown in the dishwasher. Great fun to see our little’s face when she eats her unicorn pancakes.

Such fun.

It’s worth persevering with this. The first time I added too much pancake mix and had the heat too high. Once I had tried a few more times and worked out that if you add way less pancake batter than you think, and are patient with a lower heat, you end up with cute dino pancakes. My 4 yo loves them. He also loves the plate and refuses to eat anything else from it other than Dino pancakes.

This doesn’t work

The media could not be loaded. I tried both the eggs and the pancakes. Neither of the options worked well. Too much detail in the design. Eggs spilled out of the bottom. Not stable enough to flip either option. Don’t waste your $$$.

Adds a smile at breakfast

Sent as a Christmas present for my 12 year old nephew who likes experimenting in the kitchen. He's enjoyed using it and it has definitely caused some merriment at breakfast!

Impossible to keep the egg mix in the mold. It pours out the underside. Binned it!

Nice idea but didn’t work that well

Bought for pancakes. Not the best outcome. Not great when used for eggs either. Not really worth the money.
