I love these handlesets Baldwin Brass has been my fav for forever.

Years ago when we remodeled our last house, we had ordered hardware through a door co that never came through. Frantically I ran to HD to find something that would work and I discovered this company. I bought every door handle for the house including the entryways and installed them myself that night. The contractor came back the next morning and complimented my choice. They’re harder to find now since most of my local HD no longer carry them in store, I assume because of Schlage, who I think owns them now. Well, I have since moved and have been replacing all the door hardware. You don’t understand how much it changes everything. Their designs are amazing with every finish. I appreciate how much more gerth that the levers have to compare to other brands. These deadbolts in particular are great because the inside is a knob and the outside is keyed. My former owner had a double keyed deadbolt that needed a key to get out! That seemed like a death wish. Smart key is a bonus so I don’t need 15 different keys to keep and the house is universal. We have a lot of entry doors. It’s super easy and I can recharge if there’s an issue without replacing the lock set itself! I think there’s a lot of value in that. The designs for their hardware is stunning, they have several. I am using their more square design for another place, but this one is going into a craftsman it it looks gorgeous.

Matched up well with My Schlage Handset & Latch

Nice match for my newly purchased Satin Nickel Handset. Note that this lock can only be key-matched with Baldwi’s SmartKeys so I could not key-match with the previous Baldwin Key that I was replacing. I did not realize this when I ordered, however this was my mistake. I had a couple of standard key blanks cut at my local Walmart for $2.27 each. They work great. So this s not a big problem, however, I do like the form factor of the Baldwin keys.

Almost a perfect bolt lock except for one little gotcha

After buying a really cheap AmazonBasics brand bolt lock (which took me over an hour to install due to screws not even fitting in, and front plate breaking apart due to cheap metals), I decided to buy something nicer. Boy, this is superior over the AmazonBasics External Boltlock I got. Worth every penny. I didn't want to buy a Kwikset due to the cheap flimsy metal and really bad reputations it has, but I really wanted a SmartKey system (sorry Schlage), so I decided to give this a try. Note that Kwikset and Baldwin are the same companies but one has a higher quality (Balwin locks are heavier, denser, and waaaay harder to drill). It's like of like Toyota/Lexus, and Honda/Acura. At any rate, I installed this without any problem except for one thing. The SmartKey retooling key that came in the box DOES NOT WORK. In the picture I uploaded, the top picture is the retooling key that I bought from Amazon (it looks like the tip has been chopped off), and the one on the bottom is a working one that I have from another kit from another time. I don't know why this is the case, but it looks like the quality control of Baldwin has been going downhill and starting to become more and more like Kwikset these days. At any rate, when it comes to locks, don't trust cheap brands. They can be drilled easily (trust me on this, I've tried the AmazonBasics boltlock and it is just a toy lock -- totally not worth it). Spend a little more, and get way more back in terms of safety and your sanity.

I love the smart key feature which I used so our entire household continued using the same key that we used with our previous Baldwin lock. The instructions were very good.

Wonderful set

I purchased this dead bolt along with an entry handle for my new house. My biggest concern when purchasing this lock set was making sure I received a quality product. This same set is sold at Home Depot. It appeared to be exactly the same as the Home Depot set. As I continue to update my house I am going to continue to purchase these locks. Install: I have installed several brands and types of lock sets before. I am no professional by any means. I found this handle to be very straight forward and easy to install. I wasn't able to figure out how to flip the key hole though. I wish I could install handles and dead bolts with the key facing the same direction as to not have to flip the key after unlocking the deadbolt. It is not a big deal though. To change the key was very easy. I think it took me all of 2 minutes to figure out how to rekey the locks. Since I purchased 3 different locks I had 3 choices of keys to use. I can now rekey at any time without having to go buy any more keys. Quality: I have had this set for 3 months now. I have not had any issues with the quality. The lock works the same in 90 degree weather as it does in below zero. The finish is still perfect after 3 months of abuse. The nice thing with these dead bolts is that there are 4 screws that go into the door frame, including 2 which are really long and should reach the the studs. I can't imagine that it would be easy to kick down the door with these dead bolts. Overall: I would recommend this brand and this set in particular if it is your style.

Beautiful Deadbolt Door Lock

This was a replacement for my front door. It matches the Baldwin handleset I purchased for my front door as well. It was easy to install and a perfect fit for the ones I replaced. Very solid and sturdy. So happy with this purchase.

Love it!

This deadbolt is very attractive. It takes a standard product and adds a flair of class. It was easy to install and easy to use. Very substantial material quality. Doesn’t feel cheap and breakable. I really like the rekey feature too. I wasn’t sure about that at first but after I saw how easy it was I’m not sure I’d be happy with anything else. I’ll definitely be buying more when I get around to replacing my other deadbolts.
