Wow, this thing is HARD!

I bought this to grind a broken-off tap out of a hole, and it worked great, with no sign of wear. I wish it had a drill point to it, as the tip on a burr is not shaped for drilling into solid material, but I already had a small tungsten-carbide drill with which I had drilled a starter hole through the tap. I would've bought a properly-sized Tungsten-Carbide drill, but the burr was cheaper...

Drilled out broken exhaust head stud

Had to replace 1995 K1500 exhaust manifold with a broken exhaust stud inside the Head. First, I drilled a pilot hole. Next went in with the Black & Decker "easy out" to unscrew the stud. After the "easy out" broke inside the head I went to this high quality Dremel Max Life Carving Bit to file the hole larger. I really stressed this Carving Bit so I could redrill and tap a new stud thread. This Dremel Max Life Carving Bit saved the day and afterward looks no worse for the wear. Best money spent, highly recommend.

If you break an easy out/screw extractor, this is what you need to get it out

Used this tip to grind out a snap on reverse spline screw extractor after it broke off inside of a drilled out M8 manifold stud. It did the trick and held up nicely.

I love this bit!

I have multiple upgrades that I wanted to make on my boat/trailer. I could not figure out how to make a smaller hole slightly larger. I have used this on galvanized steel, wood and fiberglass. It did exactly what I needed it to for my applications.

Right tool for the job

I had been struggling to grind away enough material in a stainless steel striker plate. Bought this bit and it did the job in a few minutes!

MaxLife does not stand up to cutting metal

I bought this with the intention of grinding down some small welds in a corner, not accessible with an angle grinder. It does not cut carbon steel very well, and I was surprised how quick it went dull. The flutes are rounded off and the product lasted all of about 5 minutes. Dremel should not advertise that this product cuts harder metals if it does not cut harder metals, not even carbon steel. For this application, I would recommend instead spending the money on 1/4 inch shank end mill bit and putting it in a RotoZip, which is what I will do.

Great bit!

I use this bit to grind out broken taps or broken easy-outs. Usually takes 2 bits and about an hours time. Sure beats the alternative.

It lasts!

Lasts way longer that other bits. I use it for detail metal work, cuts nice, a lot less chatter than other bits. Yes, you might pay more for this one bit than you would for a set of 10 but you'll be happier. Just don't force the bit, let it cut.
