Worth the Money!
I always pay the extra cash for Safetycan. They seal completely so no spilling or fumes in the car. The funnel snaps on and off easily and no fighting those awful plastic "safety nozzles" on plastic cans which always leak and spill gas everywhere. The Safetcan won't let you down. No more leaks and they last forever if kept inside.

Same as it ever was...
I was in charge of a large grounds care department for 30 years. Eagle and Justrite cans are the best out there. I have a strong preference for Eagle as I have found they are easier to use with less spillage. Eagle cans due to their design have a lower center of gravity and as such are less prone to tipping over while in transport. That said , all fuel cans should be held securely in place while transporting them in a vehicle. Many people complain about safety cans. Much of their complaints though true are just the nature of the beast. These are commercial duty safety cans. Designed to shut off fuel flow in the event of the can dropping or the person becoming incapacitated while in use or should an ignition event occur while filling a hot engine (BTW - don't do that). Like any tool you need to know how to use the tool. The springs on the self closing caps are strong so it is easy to see where an elderly or handicapped or just a weaker individual will have difficulty using and filling a safety can. As others have noted cutting a hole in the top of the funnel will help with refilling the can. Older versions had looser fitting funnels that were easier to take on and off the can but they could leak around the funnel to spout area more than the newer tight fitting funnels do. This can has a wide polymer funnel as do some Justrites, I like this setup but you need to be careful about cleaning the inside of the funnel as dust / dirt will accumulate there. Corrugated flexible metal spouts do not have this problem but will accumulate dirt on the outside of the spout which is an easier to clean than cleaning the inside of the plastic spouts. The metal spouts will eventually develop leaks along the flex windings and where they attach to the can. They also break of easier over time and are expensive to replace. For the uninitiated another issue with most safety cans is that by design they lack a breather opening (Type I) which allows air to enter the can as fuel is dispensed (Type II cans have breathers but can be complicated to use and cost more) - this allows for faster fuel flow. Lacking this vent most safety cans kind of gurgle the fuel out at a slower pace a source of annoyance to some but again a compromise for the sake of safety. I don't want to overstate this, slower but still very useful. In any event a commercial metal can is much safer than any plastic can and will outlast plastic as well, in fact they can last a lifetime and some.

This is the best gas can I've owned...
UPDATE after SIX years constant use: You read it right, six years, still working like new. Only maintenance is making sure the funnel is clean before using it. No leaks, no splash over, fits EVERY application. I use this mainly on the ZTR or to take gas to someone in trouble. I've never left these in the sun for more than a few minutes. Original Review: Of course while in the service I used the heavy duty cans with flex spouts, and those are the best, but very hard to find these days. So I've had to make do for years and years with the plastic ones that you have to take off the spout to fill, and they always leak either there or at the "safety valve" they were putting on the spout tip for a while. I'm testifying tomorrow in a deposition about one of those, you can find my review of it if you look for the lowest rated gas cans...haha. That one not only leaked while using and filling, it split along the handle at the top and exhausted fumes all over the shed all day every day, and sloshed gas on my hands when I carried it, and then poured gas out of the split onto whatever I was filling... forget that~!! But I've had two of these Eagle cans for over two years now, and they get a lot of use and store in a southwest Texas storage shed that gets really hot in the summer... so these metal cans help give me at least a little feeling of being safer. I've never had a spill with these, and taking off the funnel is no problem when filling ... for me anyway, apparently some other reviewers don't realize all they went through with other types of cans when filling, like the ratcheting safety clips and the rubber washers that fall off and then the can leaks... these are spring loaded at the cap, just a squeeze to open it, and even though a "little" pressure could build up in them in the heat, not much, since it can just push the cap up and the spring lets out the pressure. This is a good design and I'll stick with it. The price is higher, but they'll last a long long time and stay trouble free. I recommend.

Sturdy, but a little difficult to use.
While I like this gas can overall, I was disappointed to find that it can be difficult to use. The spring on the cap is very strong, which is a good thing--until you try to attach the yellow pour spout. I've tried everything I can think of, but I am not able to attach the spout. The spring is so strong, I can't hold it open far enough to allow the spout to be attached. And, if you try to pour gas without the spout, it dribbles down the can & onto your mower, snow blower, etc. Even using a funnel, I spilled gas all over my snow blower. Not good. It is a solid can however & will likely last many years.

Beats cheap red plastic cans
I’ve had the larger version of this for 10 years. I bought this because, at 71, lifting the 5 gallon can full of fuel into the back of my SUV was getting to be too much. My only complaint is the spout wouldn’t go on. But the seller handled the issue easily and quickly, I’d buy it again.

Great tank
Scared the hell out of me when I opened the lid. Cans are under intense pressure from temperature differences. Just proves how well these seal. No dents. If its dented, open the lid and see if it pops itself out.

Good gaa can.
A good, small, metal gas can, too expensive but better than plastic..

best can ever
Don't screw with those stupid plastic cans, bite the bullet and get one of these. I got 2 and love them, no spill, no mess, no gurgling when pouring. I will NEVER own another plastic gas can!

Leaks like a sieve around the funnel when pouring. Wouldn't buy again for that reason.
