Fixed 20-yr old GE Range

Ended up replacing all 4 burners; small, medium and large (x2) on 20-yr old GE range in an effort to correct wonky flame spread/no lighting issues. Initially tried component replacement; replaced burner cap, burner base and even "spud" (LP orifice), only replacement of the burner base caused improvement; then tried deep cleaning (soaking in parts cleaner) old base, sanding w/emery cloth, etc- nothing worked - but replacement of the burner heads brought each burner back to original flame spread and ignition. Note I could absolutely NOT tell you why replacement fixed the wonky flame spread, as all ports, slots, grooves, etc on the original burner base appeared to be utterly clean; and if the bases were "warped" I could not tell by visual inspection (I assume that to be the case). GE Range JGBP85BEH2BB. ???? So - if uneven flame spread, ignition issues are what you're trying to correct - look up the part #s and get after replacing the burner heads first.

Works as it should

From the time that my range was purchased one burner had a uneven flame pattern. No matter how I cleaned the burner it never got better. After reading online of other folks having the same problem and fixing it with a new burner base I figured I'd give it a try. A pleasant result, an even flame all around.

Perfect Remedy for Uneven Burner Flames on Older Gas Ranges

My appliance repair guy quoted me $300 to change these burner heads. I did it myself quickly and easily for $44. Thanks Amazon.
