hayes genesis brake controller

I was able to find matching harness locally which made wiring into my truck harness a breeze. Hayes provided bolts and nutplates for the mount. I could not use them because I could not get behind the dash where I mounted it. I used screws instead and it is solid. Seems to work well with my trailer and I like the troubleshooting features the controller provides.

Don’t bet your life on this product!!

Save your money. The brake controllers all three the Hayes company sent me have failed!! Hayes will honer their warranty however the replacements are junk also. What a shame. Their quality use to be second to none. WHY??

Good controller, 2nd one I have. Brought my 1st one several years ago. Tried a cheaper one but returned it and got this one.

I would recommend this controller wholeheartedly

Purchased this unit 7 years ago and has worked flawlessly until this weekend. Started flashing a code "SF" which isn't in the troubleshooting guide and it wouldn't activate the camper brakes. I emailed the company support to find out what to do and they informed me that it is a Slide Fault error and they would have to replace the unit. They shipped one out today, no questions asked! You just don't find that kind of service anymore. I would recommend this controller wholeheartedly.

Mine was terrible

Bought it at an RV place while traveling and had them install it into my 2008 Dodge 3500, which was factory prewired. I pull a 34 foot 5th wheel camper so I turned all the settings up to full. Even under hard braking it never went past 30% braking power, which was not enough. After 6 months it would randomly turn on the truck's brake lights and say there was an open circiut, this was while the truck was parked in the driveway without a trailer hooked up. I finally had enough and bought a standard non-poportional brake controller like I had before. Installed it myself and everything works great now. The Genesis sucked when I got it and sucked worse after 6 months. I tried to find the company that makes it so I can return it under warranty but can't locate them. Stay away from this, total waste of money and put me in a dangerous situation on the road.
