Not the old-fashioned scoop of yesteryear.
If you’re like me, when you have a yearning for ice cream you want it now, without letting the ice cream soften for 20 minutes. My grandparents had an ice cream scoop that was metal. It would freeze your hands off, but there was no waiting for the ice cream to soften. That metal scoop would dish out lovely balls of ice cream without a second thought. I don’t know what happened to that old scoop, but I was hoping to find something similar. I purchased the kitchen aid brand and it is definitely not my grandparents scoop. Albeit, it works better than a spoon, but something is missing. I still have to let the ice cream sit out and soften prior to using. If you are a patient person and are just looking for an alternate to bending kitchen spoons, this may be the purchase for you

Works great to scoop ice cream, even if it is very hard. It survives the dishwasher like a champ. Bought two and happy with both of them.

Nice, but no way to sit on the table without making a mess
I've seen similar ones that have little feet to keep the table clean. This one needs to stay in the ice cream pot or be put in the sink as soon as scooping is done.
