easy to control

I had never used a lathe before and got this to go with the small pen lathe I bought. It was easy to control and move into the work piece and did a good job cutting. Tips change out quickly and it's nice to have only one handle taking up space while still having three cutting head styles.

Great tool for the money

I purchased this about 2 months back as the first CARBIDE tool for my lathe setup. I'm a novice, and don't use it all the time, but managed to use if for a few projects. I was pleased with the price point, and the easily interchangeable heads. My clumsy self did manage to lose the set screw once, but no worries, it was a standard threading and I bought an extra couple at the local hardware store. Otherwise the carbide cutters were sharp and did a nice job of working the bowls and wands that I've worked on. The only negative thing that's happened, is that I was cutting with the square radius carbide, and the wood caught. I was using red oak, so it the oak was very strong and unfortunately, the carbide tool lost the test of strength. The carbide carrier (not the carbide, but the interchangeable holder) snapped in half and flew off. Luckily, I was wearing my PPE, so I didn't get hurt. I can't seem to locate a source for the carrier, so now I am left in deciding if I want to invest more money in a dedicated square carbide tool, or purchase another interchangeable tool like this one. Either way, my initial experiment was a success: I see that carbide tools have their place in my shop just as much as traditional chisels.

Works great. Waited too long to buy it.

Wish I had bought this a long time ago. Very sturdy and works great. I use it more so to make wood and acrylic pens. Very little sanding needed when using this tool. Would buy again.

Great Alternative to Traditional Chisels

I'm new to wood turning and the only other chisels I've used is a $70 set that I bought at Harbor Freight along with my lathe. This tool cuts vastly better than any of those traditional chisels. I was skeptical of the tiny blades, but they remove more wood with better precision than my traditional tools (at least in my amateur hands). I wish the handle was a bit longer, but otherwise I've very pleased with this purchase.

Missing set screw

I purchased 2 and I have to say they work good. The reason for only 4 stars is because only 1 came with a set screw for some reason. Also, the one that has a set screw you have to watch closely because the set screw works its way loose.

Easy to use.

My first set of turning tools. Didn’t take long to get the hang of them. Is a little inconvenient to have to change tips but for the price it’s worth it. You can buy additional handles direct from manufacturer so when I have the extra money I’ll fix that problem. I’m glad I went with these instead of traditional turning tools.
