Okay basic kit....
This is just an "okay" basic kit to have to keep in a car or in a backpack for having with you at all times for emergency needs. It's a relatively small, compact kit. I bought three for keeping in cars various for bare minimum emergency supplies. It would be nice if it included: (1) more water packets (there isn't really a 72-hrs supply of water included) (2) more durable pair of gloves other than a pair of latex gloves (3) a more durable N-95 filter mask For what you get overall, it's a fairly decent price, though, again, you'll want to add additional water, durable gloves, and (maybe) a better filtration mask. You'll likely also want to add a more extensive first aid kit as what's includes in this isn't sufficient for anything beyond your basic, simple cuts.

Be prepared in case of an emergency
Knowing you are prepared with these essential items, in case of an earthquake or any other disaster, gives peace of mind. Everything you need for 3 days is in this kit. I highly recommend.

Perfect for back to school!
Our kids need to bring survival packs to class for back to school and this one had about everything! I just needed to buy a few extra food items to round out the time (number of days) food needed.

Added this to Emergency Road Kit.
This is a small kit which I added to my emergency road kit to keep in my car. It's easy to get stuck out somewhere, specially in the winter, when help is simply not available. You could easily breakdown on a country road, for one reason or another, where there is no one around and you have to wait a day or so for help. You carry an emergency kit around for the same reason that you carry a spare tire. In case of an emergency. This is not a stand alone kit. Instead, this should be added to your emergency road kit. Recent winter storms have brought this to my attention. I reduced my rating here after going thru the supplies. You are pretty much getting what you are paying for if you purchased the items individually, and this kit even borders on even being over-priced. It's marketed as a 3 day backpack kit. I would never use this for backpacking or camping. But it would be OK in a vehicle or at home as part of a larger kit. Here is what is in the kit: One 2,400-calorie food bar; Six Water pouches; One Survival Solar blanket; One Emergency poncho; One pair of nitrile gloves (use and throw-away); One First Aid Kit; One 12-hour safety light stick; One Emergency whistle; One Pack of pocket tissues: One (use and throw-away) dust mask; and One carrying case. The main useful items in the kit are: The water pouches; The food bar; The emergency blanket; The light stick; And the whistle. Some of the other stuff could come in handy. The first aid kit included here is nearly useless. You should buy a real first aid kit. And the amount of light that a light-stick gives off varies due to surrounding temperature. It's marketed here as a 12 hour light stick. The time that it continues to produce light will vary due to temperature. If I was backpacking or camping, I would never carry water in pouches this way. There are better and easier ways to carry water. I'm not commenting on the included cloth case since I tossed it aside with no plans on using it. Not included in this kit, but things that you should have in any emergency kit are: A compass; A signal mirror; An emergency flashlight; A water filtering system of some sort; Purification tablets; An expandable canteen; A radio of some sort (preferably with a hand crank); Some candles; Some way of starting a fire; And a knife or axe (or both). (Multifunction knives are nice if they are well made. They are nearly useless if they are not made well.) After going through this kit, I feel that I should have looked at the more expensive kits a little harder. Or better still, I should have bought each item separately. It would have cost me more, but I would have ended up with a much better kit. I ended up giving this kit 3 stars. The items in this kit can be used in an emergency. But this is not even close to being a complete kit. ********************** Update Jan 15, 2013 The idea behind my purchase of this kit was to leave it in the car in case of emergencies. It turns out that that they did not leave enough room inside the water pouches for the water to expand when it freezes. The result is that the water pouches split when the water inside them freezes, then the water soaks everything when it thaws. I'm sure there is a use for this kit, but I don't know for what. It was a waste of my money. I quick trip to Walmart's Camping Department would have been a better idea. I just reduced my rating of this kit from 3 starts to 2 stars.

Mine came fully intact without a punctured bag
Most federal and state agencies want you to have a 3 day kit this has many of the essentials you need. I've trained my body to go without food or water for 14-17 hrs anyways which I don't recommend others to do. What it didn't come with I supplemented with supplies from here the added items are an Etón American Red Cross ARCFR160R radio/flashlight and a small swiss pocket type knife which I already had in a leather pouch as well as sample steroids for my asthma and a SE Military (Prismatic) Lansatic Compass, 2-1/8" Dia. Face . Surprised this little bag had room for these extras so this automatically went in my car hopefully I will never have to use it but it is nice to know I made a small investment for my safety and well being since I live in Earthquake country. Also create a separate bag with one pair of clothes and an action guide (optional) to be thoroughly prepared. Like all things you can be overly prepared and things can still go wrong but a 72 hour kit is essential and if you have to leave quickly you can just grab and go.

Good start for building an emergency gobag.
Purchased for my disabled aunt. She feels it is light enough for her to carry in case of an emergency.
