Use plastic bags
Used this on my trip from NC to OK. Ran into some bad thunderstorms along the way and ended up with about an inch of water inside of this bag. I’d recommend you bag up anything you do not want wet. Other than that, this has served its purpose well.

Great product
For the price they are this product is worth every penny. I turned it sideways to fit between roof rack for a more snug fit.

I would get a roof rack
All in all, it's a great product. Sturdy material. Definitely waterproof. Hearty zippers. Well constructed. Just be smart and aware and use properly. If you have no roof rack, be sure you have the hooks in a position that doesn't create too much of a gap between the window and weather strip. Not only will it be noisy, but it will cause your air conditioner to have to worker harder. I believe the carrier also causes extra wind resistance and the weight of it can cause your engine to be overworked. I almost overheated in the middle of the desert 40 miles outside of Vegas in 110 degree weather. Scariest trip of my life! If I had it to do over again, I would have had a roof rack installed.

The Little Bag That Could
As you can see from the photo, the contents fit into the carrier like a perfect cube. This was a very promising sign. I then drove 600 miles from Sacramento to Olympia, Washington, encountering rain squalls and high winds along the way. My stuff arrived without a hair out of place. From the watertight flap over the industrial strength zipper to the quality material and ease of installation this is simply a brilliant little carrier.

Great for a 4000+ mi road trip!
This was great! The only thing is that the Velcro came right off when the glue melted. Other than that, it kept all of our things dry and held up for 4,000+ miles!

needs mini-bunji cords
As one reviewer mentioned, it makes a lot of noise once you get above 40 mph or so. I'm pretty sure the problem is that the straps are vibrating like a string instrument. I fixed it by buying mini-bunji cords at Walmart; connecting the pair of straps on each side with a bunji completely eliminates the noise. I paid about $4 at Walmart for a set of 20, but this is something similar on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Lionma-832950-Bungee-Cords-piece/dp/B01M18BBH9/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2FJ7HM1KOABQB&dchild=1&keywords=mini+bunji+cords+with+hooks&qid=1598748190&s=automotive&sprefix=mini+bunj%2Cautomotive%2C135&sr=1-3 Also, I initially thought the strap hooks wouldn't actually fit my car (Honda Accord Hybrid). It turns out that it will work, but you have to push the hook hard against the car, and it doesn't actually sit completely flush with the door, just close enough so that it stays. We drove through a lot of rain and it was completely dry afterwards. The only reason I'm rating it 4 stars is because the company really should include two or three mini-bunjis with the carrier.

Exceeded My Expectations
We put it to the test on a camping trip. The quality of the bag is excellent. The bag is waterproof and during our travels, there was plenty of hard rain to test this. Everything was completely dry inside the bag. Latching the straps and tightening down was relatively easy. Round trip, we traveled approximately 650 miles and no issues or safety concerns. They do recommend you drive for a couple of miles and check. I did this upon starting each trip and felt comfortable with the security of the bag each time. Last, it was easy to pack and there is lots of room. Being able to securely transport camping gear on the top of the vehicle, opened up the inside for a much more enjoyable ride.

Just what we needed
I purchase this product almost a year ago for a trip we were taking. Initially we did not use cross bars because my vehicle did not have them so we had to latch the bag to the inside of the car doors. I did not like it because all you heard was wind because of the space between the door and the frame. Next trip I purchased the cross bars for the roof and this bag worked perfect. We drove thru Florida rain and none of our stuff got wet, so not sure how other reviewers items we soaked. Only thing I can think of is that the bag wasn’t zipped and the flap wasn’t folded down right.

Appears strong
Needed extra space for uni trip twice a year so didn’t want expensive roof box . Looked around quite a bit, were cheaper ones, but they appeared to be flimsy. This one is good quality materiel , that I don’t think will tear. The attachments also seem to be strong, easy to fasten on to existing roof bars on the car. We have done one 3 hour motorway trip with it full, it felt secure, did not move at all. It didn’t rain, so can’t comment other than to say it looks thoroughly waterproof. So far, am really pleased and would recommend.

Good value for the money
Great value for the money, easy setup and tear down. Weather resistant, no water seeped through at all. Wind noise is a little much though may be how I packed it and to be expected. Recommend a blanket or roof mat underneath as it did scratch my roof a little. User error.

Don’t use without roof racks
I finally got to use this to move 14 hours away. We needed just a few extra things to bring that didn’t fit in the car. The straps seemed like they attached well into the weather stripping, but they did not and the straps snapped and the carrier flew off our roof (luckily just before we got on the highway). I would not use this without a roof rack. Sucks that it is over 30 days since I bought it so it says I can’t get my money back :(
