Very nice candle - remote adds good feature set
I love flameless candles, and when my last one died, I wanted to find one to replace it. I wanted an unscented ivory-colored candle with a wax exterior and moving "flame". This one - the Softflame Flameless Candle - seemed to meet all but one of my preferences, and I wasn't sure if it was scented or unscented as the listing and reviews when I ordered didn't mention this. This is fairly tall and thick pillar candle. Good news for me is that this candle is unscented with a nice ivory-colored wax exterior. The candle uses 2 C batteries, and it turned out we didn't have any, so I ordered some rechargeables (rather than the alkaline batteries they recommend), and they work fine. The candle came with very protective foam around it, and it arrived in perfect condition. I didn't see the remote initially, and without it the candle controls are pretty basic. The remote comes with a battery installed and protected by a try-me tab, and the remote allows you to turn the candle off and on, turn the flickering on or off, to turn the brightness up or down, and it has several options if you want to use a timer. Something I really like about this candle, which probably explains the brand name of Softflame , is that the "flame" is soft, 3D silicone rather than the flame-shaped hard and flat "flame" of my other candles. It moves in the breeze just like a real candle with a very pretty effect. The only thing I didn't like about this candle is that it comes with no directions for the remote. The remote is easy to figure out, but a quick start guide would have been nice. Overall I'm quite happy with my pillar candle - it adds such a lovely ambience to the room. I wish this company sold smaller candles - say 4 or 5 inches tall - in ivory. I'd definitely buy them.

One Very Large Candle
I guess I missed the part about how very large this candle is. Bought it to put inside my lantern but the candle is much larger than needed and it doesn’t fit. Oops on me. Aside from that, it is amazingly realistic looking and feeling since it’s made from wax. The flameless flame could fool many unless looking up close. It actually flickers like a real flame. It’s truly a simple and lovely candle and so easy to turn on and off with the remote. That’s a very smart option if you are using it in a centerpiece or like me in a lantern….no fussing around to turn on and off. Good price point.

not bad
not bad. feels like a wax candle. remote to me has the buttons reversed for what i am used to on most remotes. firestick remote when turning down the volume with turn these on. bit annoying. flame to me looks a bit to fake. from a distance maybe but it would have to be a good distance away. works fine though. adds a bit of style to any room. recommend - yeah, it works fine and pricing isn't bad either.

Wiggly flame and high pitched noise
These candles are lovely but I have some gripes. I've collected a fair number of them because I find I can use them in specific locations that help cancel out my complaints. In certain settings they "squeak". I cannot describe it otherwise. They make this whispering, high pitched noise that would ruin the mood in any romantic dinner. The second is probably the thing that causes the noise....the "flame" wobbles back and forth. This removes any meditative factor for me. So for example I have a different brand's waterproof fake candles in the shower and I find that fake flickering meditative, but because this plastic flame wobbles like a bobblehead my eyes instantly want to focus on it instead of zone out. So places where I love using these candles is on windowsills, up high where you cannot see the "flame", or in my greenhouse. Anywhere where the noise and the flame isn't noticeable. I've also noticed the color varies from candle to candle, and sometimes they clash. I love the real wax look but I wonder why there isn't a little more consistency in the color, like you would get with real candles. Overall, this can work for specific applications, but be sure you're okay with the noise.

Lovely "candle" but be aware of the size!
I've got a few of these candles in a range of sizes. When I saw the chance to add another, larger, one to my collection I took it. The others I have range from 3x7 to 4x10 inches. I knew this one would be the biggest of them all but was still surprised to see just how big it was when I took it out of the box. It's 5x9 inches, which doesn't sound like it would be significantly bigger than the 4x8 I already have, but it certainly caught me off guard at first. The candle has a naturally flickering "flame", operates with a remote control so you can turn it on or off, adjust things like the "shimmer" of the flame and set it on a timer. Mine spend most of their lives on a timer, so they come on some time around dark and go off around the time I go to bed. There are switches on the underside to determine whether you want the very top to light up or a bit more of the top. Personally I prefer just the very top, because it looks more like a natural candle. The remote control comes with a battery but you will need two C-cells to run the candle. They don't come with the candle. Although this is remarkably large it does look nice as part of a cluster of candles. And of course since there's no flame the chance of accidentally setting fire to something is all but zero.

Interesting more realistic look to Moving Candle Wick
The candle wick on this candle is not flat. Unlike the competition, this wick is 3 dimensions, more like a real candle flame. The movement of the flame isn't quite as fast as the brands that we are more familiar with and it is the one negative. The candle itself is massive, and impressive, both in height and diameter, and it is real wax! The remote control will do far more than what most people would want to do, but it gives those who like to fiddle options!

Gorgeous
I plan to make a velum design to put on them, but for now, they are lovely just the way they are! These are gorgeous!! Larger than I imagined, I read the size, but it didnt measure in my head! I love the remote/timer feature, not having to go to the shelf and turn it on and off is so nice. It can be set to go off in a desired amount of time so you dont waste battery life!
