Great & Fast Convenient Brewing with One Caveat

I kept breaking my all glass traditional siphon Brewers with just a bump or other mishap. So I was looking for something more durable and automated which required less babysitting. I've been using this for a week now so figured I would weigh in on my experience having been a siphon coffee brewer for well over 5 years now. I loved my Yama but again the parts are very delicate. For this electric unit it heats the water very quickly and has a timed brew so I don't need to be in the vicinity to shut it off. As far as those who are concerned about the coffee staying hot, My method has always been to transfer the pot to a vacuum sealed thermos which I keep next to my desk for work. The coffee brewed with this system is incredibly hot and much more so than with the Yama. So here's the one downside that I have observed. The mesh filter provided allows some minute grains of coffee grounds through it creating a sediment in the pot. A replaceable cloth filter such as with the Yama might be an option but is higher maintenance in that it needs to be replaced. Periodically. I grind my coffee coarse as you would for a French press but still the non-cloth filter does allow some grounds to get through. Certainly not as bad as some diner coffee with grounds in the bottom of your cup but could be better. It might be worth this company investigating a better filtering method.

Do not like that can’t use cloth or paper to reduce particles, if that doesn’t bother you, then might rate it higher. I use for loose tea…

Love the coffee this machines makes

The media could not be loaded. Got this since I didn't want to use my stove or a burner. It makes great smooth coffee, and it's pretty quick. Just wish it had a warming feature, but it stays warm for a few hours after brewing

Great brew… carafe seal doesn’t last

Coffee from this unit tastes much better than traditional coffee brewers but the seal on the carafe has went bad and made the it so that you leak as much coffee onto the counter as you get in your cup.

Great siphon coffee brewing system!

The media could not be loaded. Great engineering, electric brewing, easy to clean. This system is way better than the old fashioned glass and alcohol burner syphon brewers on the market. Automatic electric heater is programmed perfectly to deliver a great cup of coffee. Pot includes a sealing lid to keep your coffee hot until it’s gone. Mesh filter is great…don’t use an espresso grind…it will pass through.

Dead on arrival

I've owned siphon brewers by Yama and Bodum (the electric Santos model), so I am somewhat experienced. This unit begins to boil, then shuts off, and one must standby for 60 seconds until the thermostat resets. Then, press the button again to finish the cycle. This is not the way it is supposed to work. I just tried one more brew, and this time it boiled a little of the water into the upper chamber, and shut down, so I now have damp grounds and a pot full of light brown water. The first three times when I was able to get it to finish a cycle, I was surprised at how weak the brew was. Be prepared to use a lot of grounds. Build quality is good; better than Bodum.
