Super easy fix

I had a plumber doing a yearly maintenance check on my water heater. He told me that my water pressure was low and he could change out my pressure valve for a discounted rated of $600 Because he was already there on on a prepaid maintenance plan. He told me it would be closer to $900 if he had to reschedule for another day. I told him he could leave, then ordered this valve and changed it out in less than 15 minutes when it came in. I’m not sure how some people can sleep at night.

Quality Product PRV

This is the exact brand (Zurn Wilkins 1" NR3XL Pressure Reducing Valve) I had on before so replacement was super easy. No welding needed just had to purchase an additional washer for the opposite end that screws on our existing inlet valve pipe. I found the perfect washers at Lowes in a 2 pack since this only came with one washer for the one side. We found that having it screw on both sides makes replacement easiest. Our last PRV lasted around 7-10 years we believe. Here in AZ our water pressure is 105 PSI. We found the product needed replaced or a replacement kit when we heard the clanging pipes in the house then the softwater sprung a leak from the higher pressure so it was time to replace. The nice thing about this brand Zurn Watkins they have easy instructions on their website zurn.com or search YouTube videos to assist in putting it on correctly. Total time took 30 to 45 Mins to flush the main line and arrange the tools need to complete the job.

Excellent product, easy to adjust water pressure.

I purchased this to lower the water pressure in the plastic (PEX) pipes in my home. My water pressure was running at 100psi because after many years of use, my old water pressure regulator had failed . I was concerned that the 100psi could cause my water heater, dishwasher, and washing machine, etc. to fail or shorten their life. I was also concerned that the plastic (PEX) pipe could fail. I wanted to avoid water damage and extend the life of my appliances. I installed this Zurn pressure regulator. It took me a couple of hours to install it. It was easy to adjust the water pressure to 60psi. And follow-up water pressure testing shows that the regulator has no problem maintaining the pressure at 60psi.

Missing parts / Bought 4 units

Good price but two boxes were missing rubber washers and brass unions. I had some leftover brass unions & rubber washers from previous purchases so I've only taken off one star. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars due to good price. But if I hadn't checked each box before installation I wouldn't have known to procure extra parts beforehand and that could be a problem in the future if the job is far away. My guess is that because I bought 4 units they calculated I would have access to extra parts compared to a single unit end user so they offloaded the ones with missing parts on me. Didn't like having to drive and spend time getting the missing parts from shop though.

Zurn Wilkins PRV Works Like a Charm! Life Is Good!

Direct replacement of old PRV. Be sure to order with dual union so you will receive two washers instead of one. After replacement, water pressure was up to standard.

Defective

Product is defective and causes flooding!!! Aug 2020- first incident, flooded our basement (this was installed by builder that lasted from 2016) March 2023- again flooded my basement with the same problem. Leak from the same location. I am not an engineer, so I can not describe thoroughly as the other reviewer here but believe him, his review is point on. Please see photos of 2 occasions when we had the 2 separate occasions that this same item burst.
