Good budget pencils
Good budget pencils for amateur artists (like me), coloring books and children. Come in a nice tin, which is excellent to keep them organized and protected. Cores are soft and lay down color easily, so they are fun to color with. They blend and layer decently but not amazing; red and yellow make a vibrant orange but red and blue make muddy purples, and I can lay down about 5 or 6 layers on good paper. That seems typical for good budget pencils, as all I tried produce muddy purples from red and blue and get about the same number of layers - at this point I have tried several good brands and they all perform about the same, i.e. Markart (same as Nyomi), Arrtx, these Amazon pencils, Kalour (same as round Brutfuner) and square Brutfuner. I would say the round Brutfuner are slightly less pigmented and take more layers on the page to get the same color as the other sets, but are still good. I also tried Prismacolor and was initially not impressed as the above budget brands all feel just as soft and easy to use to me, but realize now why so many people love them - they are the only pencils I have tried where red and blue combine to make a true, clear purple; they also generally take 1 to 3 less layers to get bright pigment on the page compared to the other pencils (the number of layers needed varies by color). However a full 150 set of Prismacolor costs anywhere from $100 to $150, tend to get broken cores easily and get wax bloom. You can buy smaller sets of Prismacolor for less, but they are still expensive and I do not feel they are worth it - ymmv. Of course, I could have purchased Prismacolor for same cost as a bunch of budget sets, lol. Have purchased a full set of these Amazon pencils now and so far these, the Markart and Arrtx are my faves. Arrtx are pricey for 126 pencil set, so would recommend Markart 120 pencil set or the Amazon 72 pencil set as better buys. Tried two other budget pencils I did not like; I found cores on Arteza and Starjoy Gold pencils to be too hard and to have much less pigment than other brands in my opinion - ymmv.

Almost as good as Prismacolors for 1/3 the price
I saw a Youtube video comparing these pencils to Prismacolors. The verdict was that they included just a tad more filler, but overall were just as good as Prismacolor pencils for 1/3 the price. I haver to say that I am in agreement. They are soft and pigmented and the lay down on the paper beautifully. I wish they would get around to bringing back the 72 ct or an even bigger set, because I would definitely be adding them to my collection.

They are good, but not my favorite
To start off: I am NOT a professional, nor am I even "good" at coloring.. I do adult color-by-number books because I hate picking colors and rather the book pick them for me ;). I have been using a set of 24 prisma but they are starting to wear down to nubs, so I ordered this as a cost-saving alternative. I used them for a couple days but realized that I prefer the feel of the others better. These are good, but they don't seem to be as versatile. I find that I have to put more pressure in order to lay down color, and they don't seem to have as wide a range of color as the Prismas do. With that said, I may just be picky.. I gave these to my son who frequently draws and colors and he loves them, so they were not a waste for sure! In short, I recommend them but don't expect them to be on the same level as Prismacolor or other "high-end" brands.

Gorgeous pigmented colors!
I had previously used Prisma Color pencils and needed a new set, so I rolled the dice and tried these. I am not disappointed! Rich, soft leaded, easy to sharpen, vibrant colors. The pigmentation is not quite as rich as Prisma, but for the money I'm saving, I'll buy these again. Excellent product

Impressive quality for the price.
I really enjoy using these colored pencils for coloring books and doodling. I haven't used them for a high quality art project yet so I can't speak on wax bloom, but the choice of colors is excellent, the storage tin is really nice, the pencils lay down a nice bold line, and they don't break easily. These are definitely worth the money. I would recommend them for beginners, students, classrooms, and hobbyists for sure.

Very nice!
Very nice. I was a bit skeptical about the pencils given the price point and reviews, but these were very nice. After using them for a few days for coloring, I really had no complaints. Package arrived un-damaged. Colors were vibrant and blendable. Would buy again.

Fabulous Coloured pencils... Love them.
Amazon Basics Premium coloured pencils are awesome! These wax based pencils have lovely colours. They are not as soft as Prisma's and sharpen easily. I paid $37.98 CAD for the set of 72 colours. The colour names are on each barrel. I'm including a blank colour chart for others to use. They layer and blend well with with blending pencil, other pencils and Gamsol (odourless mineral spirits). I did a colour chart and coloured this squirrel eating sunflowers with them. The colouring page is from Kimberley Hawthorne's Life Escapes Colouring collection 2 book. In my opinion these pencils are excellent.

surprisingly good!
I am not saying that these would replace my higher end pencils. I have all the big names; Faber Castel's polychromos, all the Derwent line and Caran D'Ache Pablos... However, these pencils CERTAINLY hold their own in that lineup. They are perhaps not as vivid but have good colours, and the leads are very creamy , making them easy to blend. For those on a budget, you won't be disappointed with these...

Amazon basics are far from basic.....
Wow Amazon pulling out all the stops for this beautiful set of coloured pencils. I never find the tray inserts for most pencils very good but the tin is a nice feature and the quality of the pencils is really impressive. I went into this purchase not having high hopes but! I was greatly surprised. If you love drawing or adult colouring I highly recommend this product. Also, a lot of people complain that they have trouble sharpening some colored pencils and yes there are some terrible ones out there. However make sure you are using a sharpener that is ideal for colored pencils. I discovered I kept making the error of using the graphite side of a dual sharpener and it kept breaking my colored pencils as I sharpened so pay attention to that.

Correct

Best value around
Simply put if you don't care about lightfast rating and don't mind the slightly awkward packaging of the 72 set at least, these are the best pencil in my opinion on the market. The cores are about the same as Arteza for hardness and smoothness. Color vibrancy is just as brilliant as the more expensive brands such as Prismacolor and Arteza. If you are used to the blending capabilities of anything Prisma or better you will be let down, you can blend it's just not as nice or as easy. Of the 2 72 sets I have ordered both came with defects but none so bad as to need or want replacement. One last thing of note, the 72 tins are kind of odd, I know one day the lid will pop off while in a backback and pencils will fly. I suggest a few rubber bands to secure the lid if travelling or being even a little rough with it. Other than a few minor issues, good job Amazon on a good quality product without the insane high price.
