Beautiful statement piece, requires TLC
I originally purchased the 30x23” Boos cutting board during the 2022 Black Friday deals when it was offered $50 off regular price. The first board came well packaged, but the board was cracked so I sent it back and requested a replacement. Amazon was easy to work with, and I received a second Boos block a week after my return was processed. The second Boos had a bubble in the top/middle of the board. The thin piece on top was slivered and was catching on the dry towel I used to wipe it down with. The edges of the board were marked with black as of it had slid around a warehouse for a while before someone decided to sell it. I contacted Amazon, but they said the item was not eligible for an exchange because I had already requested one prior. I had to return for a refund and buy at full price. I am fairly handy, and decided to lightly sand the board with a fine 220 grit sandpaper. I would not recommend this unless you are familiar with sanding, otherwise you could ruin the board. After sanding I washed with warm water, and oiled all sides about a dozen times (allowing time between coats) and now we display the board. It looks very good, but because of the depth of the “bubbled” wood, you can feel the uneven spot when you run your hand along the top. In the end, it was worth it for me, you just have to decide if it’s worth it for you?! Maybe you’ll get lucky with a perfect board right out of the package!

Outstanding Quality
I purchased the large sized 3-inch thick board to knead bread. It is extremely sturdy and will not move when kneading dough. There are spaces carved out on either side for easy gripping to move or carry the board. Season well for a lifetime of use. I seasoned and conditioned my board over two days (four times on all sides, wiping and drying between coats and before turning over). I seasoned/treated my board with mineral oil until it was adequately absorbed (4 applications) and then applied the conditioner for the last coat (1 application) on day two for a total of 5 applications. I have been using Howard Mineral Oil (food grade) as well as the Howard Conditioner for years. I highly recommend the product for treating wooden cutting or baking boards. It does and excellent job. I am so pleased with my new cutting board. It's beautiful and functional. I highly recommend this product without reservations.

OUTSTANDING! You're not getting better value.
I was very torn on buying this board despite the high rating. There were some very negative reviews that were consistent with their issues, but after reading some other reviews that explain why those issues occurred, I decided to purchase and I'm glad I did. As someone else pointed out in a review, you do need to give this board an initial treatment as you should with any higher-end cutting board. After a quick rinse, I did a good dose of Boo's board cream, but you can obviously use other brands. Once that dried I did a layer of oil and let that dry. This is about a two day process. Patience. It makes all the difference in the world. It really helped enhance the color and smooth out the wood. Boards like this can arrive a bit crude/coarse and just need some TLC to get them started. You're not getting a better buy. Boards of this level are sometimes over double the price of this board. This isn't a situation of it being good for the price. This is an outstanding board. This cutting board is beautiful, heavy duty and with so much surface area. Again, the color shines with a little TLC. As with knives, cutting boards at this level do require more care, so I definitely don't recommend this board if you don't want to take the time to care for it, and that's not a judgement, not everyone wants something that requires any maintenance. I will say, after the initial setup, it doesn't require that much maintenance. Just follow basic wood cutting board rules like not submerging it water, not using harsh cleaning products or putting it in the dishwasher and you won't have any issues. You know it's time to give it some more board butter and oil if you drop some water drops on top and they don't immediately bead up and stay on top.

Love it
I bought this in February (it is now mid September) and was wary due to some of the reviews, but decided to give it a go. I wanted a substantial cutting board that looked beautiful for every day use and could stay on the counter. The size has been perfect for everything from watermelon to the meats my husband smokes to just chopping some quick veggies. It arrived in one piece and was well packaged. I was worried about warping or splitting/cracking, especially as we live in a dry climate (Denver). I oiled it daily for two weeks, alternating sides. Initially I liked a few times a day, as it soaked in the oil quickly. Soon it was more saturated and took a full 24 hours to soak in what I put on. (I have used walrus brand oil and walnut oil). After two weeks, I waxed it (also walrus brand) and began using it. For the first several months, every time I used it I would wipe it down with a damp cloth and then oil. If I wasn’t using it, I still oiled once a week. To clean, I just wipe with a damp cloth. I never submerge (it’s too heavy for that anyway!) I don’t put raw meat on it because that feels iffy to me, but anything else goes! Cooked meat juice will temporarily stain, but because it’s so well oiled, a scrub with wet cloth followed by more oil removes any staining. It has worn beautifully. I try to flip once a month as well as rotate sides so it gets even wear. You can see knife cuts but I like things that show they are well used. The oil helps smooth the cuts. At this point, I oil a few times a month for maintenance. I’ll flip it 24 hours after an oil and waxing when I feel like it’s time to rotate. It’s gorgeous and so convenient to have out. My in laws loved it so well, that I bought one for them. We will have this forever!
