Works great! 300 Gallon Koi pond
My wife and I upgraded our little 50 gallon koi pond to a 300 gallon little pond. After spending time effort and money to make our garden extra special and fun we wanted to make sure our fishies lives through the cold northeast winter. I was initially worried that it might get too warm and knock the fish out of their dormant period. This little heater kept the water from freezing but never too warm. Only issue I had was at the end of the season when removing it from the pond I got a little electric shock. There was a small Knick in the wiring that I heat shrunken and patched up. Hopefully I can get another season out of it :)

Defective 1/2 the time
UPDATE: 4/15/23- Customer service at the manufacturer was outstanding. I explained the situation and they immediately replaced the unit. Do not use this product with an extension chord longer than 25! I bought one of these units and it worked very well, so I purchased another as my koi pond was too large for just one unit to keep up with in the winter. I’ve had no issues with the first unit. However, the heating element on the second unit burst in multiple places within a couple weeks. Since the return window closes for this item in 30 days and I didn’t get the unit out of the pond till after that, I am now stuck with no options for replacement. Be careful when purchasing this product and ensure that once it is installed in whatever water feature you have, that it is accessible to check in that 30 day window.

Does the job
Calculated my pond at about 200 gallons. Based on some heat calculators I initially bought the 250 watt version because some reviews complained about the water getting too warm. Used in the submerged mode pond got down to 39F with overnight temperatures around 15-20F. Then purchased the 750W version, pond temp now closer to 50F. Unit states it is thermostatically controlled, some have commented they don't think it's true. As weather warms will track temps to see if heater shuts off, can't really tell now because I imagine it's running 24/7. I chose submerged over floating mode because I wanted the whole pond warmer, not just the surface area around the unit and for now it's doing its job

Love this
My goldfish loved this and it was funny to see them snuggle their nose on this device.

Sinks to bottom
I have a1200 gal. pond. With Koi Can't tell if this is working but the fish hangout near it. Its been a mild winter so no ice problem or snow on the pond. If you have snow I think they tell you to put in the snow to see if it melts. I found the price reasonable. I wanted to bring some heat to the bottom of the pond. But I can't measure if it is that effective. All of my Koi made it and seemed more active than usual. I feel I can recommend this product and did not have a bad experience with it. I bought one last year that I misplaced so this is my second one. No problems with the first one.

Pretty good
Dropped it in the pond and plugged it in. Kept the water from freezing. So far, so good. About a week later I noticed that the flotation material was melting. It formed a floating mass in the middle of the float ring. Doesn't appear to affect the fish but still mildly frustrating/concerning. On the plus side, we had a deep freeze last week (below zero for 36 hours, below freezing for over a week) and it kept my 75 gallon gold fish pond from freezing. I guess that's what counts.

I returned one and now it's a mystery
I have been using these for years and never been disappointed. Sure, they wear out, but this year I had a new one melt. I reported that I wanted a replacement and I sent the melted one back. They sent me two as a replacement, as I guess they come in twos. Then I didn't hear a word. Was it refunded? Was I supposed to pay for the extra one? Did we break even? I want to know!

Using in large trough for goldfish
The cord is stiff and heater is light weight so get pulled around or flipped easily but it works. For first few weeks it caused foaming even after washed

What is Happening
This heater was supposed to be the best one out there. Had it for 25 days now. Put it into the water for the fish to stay warm but everyday I check it, it has tripped the breaker, reset good till next morning. Now it just blows the breaker every time I plug it in now garbage. I have nothing else running on the same power supply and the outdoor outlet is brand new professionally installed, so it would be only one thing…….

Keeps tripping breaker
Today is Jan 14th in Ontario Canada. It hasn't been too cold until this week, with the exception of a bad storm for 2 days around Christmas. I put the heater in my pond about 6 weeks ago. All has been fine until today. It's been below freezing temps now for a week and something is going wrong. The heater is tripping the breaker. Had an electrician over and he said it's just a crappy heater and it's drawing more power than it should, which is tripping the breaker. So unfortunate I had to unplug it and risk my 20+ fish for the night. Off to TSC/Peavy Mart in the morning to buy a trough heater. Don't waste your money on this one.

This "de-icer does not shut off.
Verified Returner! This is the third defective pond de-icer I've returned. This unit is to turn off at just above freezing but doesn't. It continues to heat the pond to the point where the fish are up at the top and the plants are starting to grow. If it continues, it will cook all my fish and plants and send my electric bill through the roof. I even tried it in the house and the thing just kept heating. I bought this same product 5 years ago and got 4 winters out of it. It worked perfectly. The 3 I got this year? All defective! I'm switching to a different manufacturer. A manufacturer that responds to email enquiries and doesn't ignore their customers.

Keeps small pond at 10C
Installed in a small garden pond with goldfish. Heater is keeping pond water so warm that fish continue to swim around. On cold mornings I can see a little steam coming off the water. We are having a fairly mild winter for Canada but getting concerned about fish not having enough food as I don't feed them all summer and expected them to hibernate in winter. Near the end of Jan but so far so good.
