Very limited range.

The range is extremely limited, and not likely useable. I have this temporarily installed and sitting above my nav station, in an effort to find optimal location. My boat is a 50ft sloop made from FRP and wood, with the nav station located just aft of the beam, on the starboard side. With the access point at the nav station, the RAM4W handheld looses connection when going into the forward berth. It also looses connection when at the helm at the back. Both of these locations are within line of sight if the access point. This is very unfortunate because my plan was to use it primarily as an intercom when anchoring, and when my wife is below due to bad weather. As far as I can tell, this is not going to suit my needs.

Works well for me

I know someone who purchased one of these and was not happy with the range. I wonder if antenna placement is somewhat critical. Mine is on the flybridge so I aimed it down but I would imagine it doesn't matter. One thing I wish it did that it does not is provide remote power on for the radio. All in all though, does exactly what I need it to do.

Garbage!

I don't write reviews very often but this one warrants it. Connection range to the Ram4W mics is literally 4-6 feet line of sight. Totally unusable.

Waste of money

I have properly installed the access point and purchased a compatible remote unit. Remote unit initially connected and then started disconnecting and now will not even connect to access point. The remote and the access point are sitting right next to one another. These things are garbage and I am disappointed in Yeasu / Standard Horizon etc. The marine radio I bought works wonderfully but these accessories are just an expensive mistake.

With volume up- there is a delay resulting in and echo effect from handheld and base unit making it difficult to hear

Disappointed to say the least

I bought the base unit for the sole purpose of the wireless mics. We have a 34' sailboat and the antenna mounted at the navigation station. It doesn't work like they say it should. Reception from the base unit is weak and talking from bow the signal gets lost. Unless they fix this problem I wouldn't buy this.
