TrippLites are awesome
I've always liked IsoBars and this one is every bit as good as ones I've had for years.

These are must use
Tripp lite makes the best surge protectors in 4,6,8 outlets.

Best of the best
There is not enough good to say about these surge protectors. They are very sturdy, made of metal so they don't flop around, and they are spacious enough between the plugs to allow for larger devices to be plugged unto them.

Let me save you some time.
This is the best surge protector there is. Get this one! You can research it if you like, but this is where the internet will point you. And you'll likely think it pricey, but if you have any sensitive musical or computer equipment, this protection is the best out there and it's actually cheaper than some other professional grade surge protectors. The ISOBAR is built of solid metal, I mean solid, so the box itself will last forever. This is a professional grade surge strip. Now there are some plastic trip-lite protectors meant for your TV stuff. They're cheaper and work fine, at least I've never had any problem. But I definitely want the ISOBAR for all my musical plugging in. I bought my first ISOBAR over 20 years ago, and it still works like a charm. I've bought 5 more since. I have a project recording studio that I use these in for pretty much everything I plug in there, and other than making the move to installing an overall surge protector at the studio's breaker box, in which if I did, I'd pop some big bucks for, these are all I will ever use. Now, as great as these are at protecting your equipment against the all too frequent and city common city power voltage surges, particularly in areas with hydroelectric power, all surge protectors have their limitations. While they protect against surges, most surge protectors don't deal with sudden drops of voltage. And I've been told by my amp guy, it's the drops that you should worry the most about. The ISOBAR is designed to recognize a sudden voltage drop and let the power latch down a bit slower to protect the equipment. Now there are some power conditioners out there, quite a bit more expensive to be sure, that are actually designed to deal specifically with sudden drops in voltage. Of course the main culprit here is city power going out altogether while you have your equipment running. And the best protection for that is a battery backup that will keep all your equipment running at a steady voltage level even without power. This is your best protection by all means. But the grade of battery backup you will need in a music project studio is going to cost you a big old wad of cash. And, you are going to have to run some power strips out of it anyway, so they might as well be ISOBARS. And one last disclaimer. Despite everything you do. There's one equipment killing culprit you just can't do anything about. And this one has gotten a few of my machines. Static electricity! In particular, the static caused by nearby lightning strikes. It travels through the air, so there's just no way to block it. But you can try to keep the studio as centrally located in your dwelling as possible and that will really help. One way or the other, you want some surge protection at the power source, and this is the surge protection strip you want.

But why
You can go to any discount store and buy a 6 to 8 outlet strip with a built in surge protector for about ten bucks. So why would you pay several times more than that for this one, especially for the models that only have 2 outlets. The difference is protection. Those bargain outlet strips offer only the most rudimentary level of protection, certainly nothing anywhere near as sophisticated as one of these. It all depends on how much you value your $2000 computer or $3000 TV. To me, a few bucks knowing I’m getting a real surge protector, not a toy, is worth every penny to protect my expensive and valuable equipment. REASON FOR PURCHASE I chose the two outlet style to protect my top of the line professional computer workstation and related home office peripherals. But I took a little different approach than the usual path of buying a mult-outlet power strip with built in surge protector. To me those are too restricting with regard to outlet location and orientation. Instead I got a heavy duty pro grade shop power strip that has no form of built in surge protection. It’s worth taking a moment to remind you that you should never plug one surge protector into another. It’s actually difficult to find power strips without surge protection, everyone thinks it’s a negative not to have it so the manufacturers throw in a basic component that literally costs them two cents so they can call it a surge protector. The one I use is three feet long and all metal with a heavy duty grounded cord and plug. I plug my workstation into one of the two outlets on the Tripp Lite Isobar for maximum safety and protection and I plug the pro grade power strip into the other, then plug my printers, storage drives, scanners, etc into the strip. That way they benefit from the Tripp Lite’s protection as well. WHATS IN IT While I am technical it is beyond my skills to explain each of the components that the Isobar has installed in it but trust me, it is way more than two cents worth of stuff. And beyond the electronics there is also the fact that the Isobar’s power outlets are sturdy commercial grade, not the cheap little plastic things in most power strips. That means the tightest and best power connection for your devices. The total cost for the 2-outlet Isobar and a heavy duty 6-outlet power strip is under sixty bucks and with a 36 inch length the strip allows me to spread the power cables across the entire back of my desk for maximum isolation and minimal physical interference of power cords getting in each other’s way. WORTH MENTIONING The product is almost all heavy duty metal with an industrial grade power cord and thankfully a right angle wall hugger plug. There are two standoff brackets on the back for wall mounting and a combination power and overload reset switch. And there is a safety feature to prevent unauthorized opening of the box. SUMMARY If you consider the price to be too much think again of how much you paid for your high end electronic components. To me it is worth every penny and I recommend it.

At ease
Nice Knowing I have $7000 worth of equipment now protected. No server should be without one. now time for a UPS for the system. The switch is nice, I'll never get another Windows 10 update during the night.

hidden screw holes, not easy to mount
i wanted a single duplex surge protector with a high joule rating that is easily mounted tight to panel. this is the best i could find under my price point, even though i had to take it apart and flip the ends around to access the mounting. Hidden screws cannot be tightened and i dont want the unit falling off the panel when a plug is pulled.

Couldn't handle a toaster
My kitchen appliances (toaster, kettle, and microwave) are all unavoidably on the same circuit. In the morning it's not uncommon for me to be half asleep and accidentally use more than one at a time, which trips the breaker and is a general pain in the ass. I researched it and saw a ton of people say that Tripp-Lite was top of the line and so I splurged and got it. Disappointingly, it worked for two days. At first I ran more than one on it and, instead of it tripping the breaker, the surge protection tripped and I could very easily remedy it using the switch on the surge protector itself and go back to my day! But... then day 3 rolls around and it wont even run the toaster or any of the others (either Kitchenaid or Panasonic for the microwave, and all relatively new) by themselves without turning off. I don't know if I received a faulty one or something but I was extremely disappointed. I returned the item, redid all my wire management, and am back to searching for a different solution.

If you cannot afford ZeroSurge, then IsoBar is next best.
ZeroSurge has kept the protected computers safe when the building they were in was struck by lightning, while other machines died. ( remembered from a testimony I read .. back in the 1990's? ) ZeroSurge is a series-reactor, they call it, not MOVs. Go see their oscilloscope screencaps, to see how less-destructive spikes & surges are, when you have theirs right before your machine... The next tier down, however, is IsoBar. I had a Joly Joy brand surge supressor & USB charger, the charger portion of it spontaneously died... less than a year old? I'm not playing around with mere-toys anymore: IsoBar surge supressor, an Aukey dual Quick Charge 3.0 USB charger in that, then my Tripplite Omni1500 LCD or whatever it's called on the other side of it. /Then/ my machine! Hth! ( :

This thing is the Cadillac of surge protectors
Want the best? This is it. Premium metal housing and durable cord. The isolation between outlets is what I was after. My one complaint is that it makes a very quiet buzzing noise. Mine is under my desk and I don't hear it. But if you have it within say 5-6 feet of direct earshot, you will hear it. And in a silent room that would drive me nuts. But overall this is a great surge protector.

A High Performance, Efficient, Quality Surge Suppressor Product, Designed in the USA
I purchased this excellent surge suppressor with a metal case as replacement, but later as the main addition to my hi fi audio system; stereo. I also have a lamp plugged in, too. I have an earlier surge protector for my turntable. The wonderful thing about the Tripp Lite Isobar Surge Suppressor is the design, and adequate spacing of the electrical outlets that you can plug in for a hi fi audio, or AV system. Normally the spacing on most surge protectors is very close, and crowded; and the insertion of a plug is difficult. Not so with Tripp Lite; there is adequate spacing, and industrial, quality outlets. The delivery of this fine, efficient Tripp Lite Isobar 6 outlet surge suppressor was fast. Furthermore, although I think the metal housing could be thicker, Tripp Lite Isobar the 6 outlet model (ISOBAR6ULTRA) white coloured is built like a tank. It is, and looks solid! Besides the important indicator lights, you get several cover plugs that can cover an outlet if it is not in use; I have now one not in use, and is covered. I have had this Tripp Lite Isobar 6 Outlet for over two weeks, and there is no low buzzing noise that I have heard so far; that is one of the main reasons I took to write, and post a review on Amazon, Canadian web site! There are a couple owner, users of Tripp Lite surge suppressor who observed, actually heard, and complained about such low level noise. However, as I listened to music on my hi fi audio system, there does not seem to be any such noise, faint or otherwise that can be heard. I am not saying that there is absolutely no such low noise coming from any such Tripp Lite surge suppressor products, but I have not heard any such extraneous, audible noise. I think that the manufacturer should seriously consider, and examine any perceivable noise from any of its Tripp Lite surge suppressor products because there are persons who connect such surge suppressors to a hi fi, or AV system. In conclusion, I believe that this Tripp Lite Ultra Diagnostic Isobar 6 outlet surge suppressor is a very good choice for a hi fi stereo, or AV system.
