Good for beginners
I liked how easy it was to build and how everything is labeled but the only thing I dislike about it is that the soldering iron it comes with doesn't heat the entire iron, only one side of it, it was right in line with the gap in between the 2 ends of the safety sticker.

First Time Success!
The media could not be loaded. This was my first attempt at this sort of project, and I'm glad I chose this product. The best part of this kit is that there are tests along the way to let you know everything is working as it should. Once I had the first section assembled and turned the knob to check the LED, nothing happened. But that led me to get a multimeter to troubleshoot where the problem was. Once I found the problem spots (where there was no voltage reading), I re-did the solder connection and voila! Then the second section was a piece of cake. I learned a lot, had fun with it, and got a real confidence boost after it worked. Now I get to design something cool to put it in, and then it's on to my next radio project. Definitely recommend for any other beginners out there.

I wasn't able to get it to work
This kit is not for beginners like myself. I think the board is too small for those of us who are inexperienced at soldering. The instructions need to be improved. They should include a basic test meter and there should be steps to test the circuits as you go rather than waiting until the end to plug the battery in at the end to see if it works. I would have also liked to see explanations of what each component is doing. I had to revise the review because after contacting the company, they were very helpful After looking at the pictures I sent them, it they said "you burnt off some copper traces so I don’t think that radios going to work. I'm going to send you a new kit. Practice solder parts to that board before starting the new kit." That is great customer service. Thanks Marc

A great learning experience
If you want a quality working frequency modulation device (or FM radio) then you should buy a pre-assembled unit. You have to accept the fact that this device may (or may not) work correctly when completed. It's a learning project for beginners. I've read some reviews saying that this isn't for beginners but, in my opinion, it's perfect for beginners. At first it looks intimidating but after you read the instructions a few times and solder your first few discap capacitors it's just a matter of time before you get the hang of it. It took me five hours. When finished it worked great for about thirty minutes. That was enough time for me to take a video and upload it to social media. Now it has stopped picking up signals but it served its purpose.

Was a good learning experience for grandson but in the end it didn't work for us.
My husband bought this for a project for him and our 7 year old grandson. It was interesting and a great project for both of them but you really should have some soldering skills. That was the most difficult part. Unfortunately one of their solders wasn't done properly because it does not work. Don't know what sheerness, thickness and warmth has to do with the review, so I didn't comment on that.

This was for my son who's 18.
He really enjoyed putting this together & was very proud of himself as he admitted it was much harder than he thought it would be!! But who doesn't like a good challenge here & there right ????????

So happy I spent the time and money to do this
I had a blast making this kit. Took me roughly 4 hours, but the last hour was trouble shooting why the stations weren't coming in. Turns I had a bad connection for the 4 looped coil. I double checked all my soldering connections and it started working great. I'm 25 years old an never soldered or did anything like this. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow.

Fun Project!
My son learned how to solder with this. It did not work when he was finished, but we enjoyed building it. The instructions do a great job at explaining how FM radios work. There is a glossary and quiz at the end to go with it. Perfect for a homeschool science lesson!
