This is cool
Love this thing, with indicator LEDs and built-in flat adapter. My vehicle has a down pointing 7-way receptacle and when I have to add an inline flat adapter (and the flat plug itself) my trailers wires are near the ground waiting for a rock or road obstruction to slam into the setup and break it (which of course has actually happened and why I bought this).

Liked both 4 and 7 pin in one
Liked both 4 and 7 pin in one unit. No installation instructions. Place plug where want. Mark holes. Drill pilot holes where marked. Drill the pilot holes slightly bigger then the bolt diameter. Bolt plug in. Apply electrical grease very sparingly to pins. The 4 way pin door doesn't stay closed.

Check hardware
It was easy to install after getting correct hardware. The video on product pade said the screws were m5. They were 10/24 std. the c=screws were too short, was unable to find any 10/24 hex head at all. installed with m5 with 50mm length and nylon lock nuts. no written instruction except if I needed a bracket I would have to order it. Good product though.

Will work but not OEM mounting
This 40950 will (and did) plug into my 2003 Suburban's stock vehicle harness and would have provided proper function of lights, but the mounting was not stock. I would have had to drill holes or get a different mounting bracket. The proper twist lock mounting plug is part # 40920. I should have gone to the Hopkins site to confirm. For a couple more dollars, I plan to return this and buy the 40920 for my truck.

Good OEM replacement on 2006 jeep liberty with addition of a harness adpater
I installed this on a 2006 jeep liberty crd. It replaced the factory unit that was starting to have weak spring pins and make poor electrical connections. This connector fit in the factory bracket, plenty of clearance for the cover to open, with the screw holes aligning perfectly, but it does require a wiring adapter to convert the factory harness to the newer standard. I used a Pollak 11-933 harness adapter for this purpose. That harness mated to the stock vehicle plug on one end, and fit perfectly into the Hopkins on the other. Hopkins does sell a package kit with a harness adapter meant for the jeep, but the plug it comes with is not a multi-tow, it only has the 7 pin. The main reason I wanted this one was to get the 7 pin and flat four combo. I had to source different screws to attach the plug to the bracket. The holes align fine, but the factory screws are too short, and the bolts that come with the Hopkins would have required drilling the factory bracket holes to a larger size, and then putting the nuts on through the rear of the bracket would have been next to impossible without removal of the bracket from the vehicle. Instead of all that work, I used some zinc coated wood screws I had in my shop that matched the factory screw threads. All in all the install took about 5 minutes once I found the screws I needed.

Plugged into the original plug on 2003 Yukon
I broke the original trailer plug on my 2003 Yukon by going through a ditch off road so I needed a replacement that I could plug into my original harness and this fit the bill. I moved the plug up into the bumper by the license plate so it wouldn't hang down like the original plug. Now I won't rip it off and it works great.

Not a direct fit
Amazon states this is a direct fit for a 2016 GMC 2500HD. It is nowhere near a direct fit. I wanted this because it provides a weather resistant 4-pin connector, whereas the OEM does not. To install this is the stock location, there are two options; remove the clips for the OEM one, or shave down this connector with a dremel (a lot). I made it work, others might not want to. It is also not as tall as the OEM connector. Holes must be drilled, does not support OEM clips.

Perfect for Tacoma
I installed this on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma. I destroyed the OME trailer plug on the trails (very common). This plug fits perfectly by the license plate. I also used the "Hopkins 40985 Universal Multi-Tow Harness Connector" to wire it. Note that the wiring colours are not a perfect match. You simply need to math the Tacoma wiring (RV Standard) to the Hopkins Connector (SAE Standard) like shown in my pictures. Hopkins website will have the wiring diagrams for you. You DO NOT want to match colour to colour.
